Default I bent my GS

Oh man. I’ve jacked up my 19 GS a number of times. I never bothered to open the doors. I noticed recently that my pass side door is rubbing against the fender just slightly when opening or closing it. It’s knocked off tiny spot of paint. It’s at the lower part of the door. Has anyone else done this?

Jacking had Nothing to do with it. Zero. There is Zero need to open the doors on a C7....or a C6....or a C5.....or even a C4. Hell, I never opened them on my '78 or '80.

Sounds like a rock chip. A pic or video would help. If it's truly the door rubbing, then that usually indicates someone on the large side uses or has used the open door to hold onto when standing up. Worst case....adjust the door or have a body shop adjust it for proper fit.

I read somewhere (from Jim Mero?) that the C7 frame is 10 times stiffer than the C6. There is no way jacking could do this. You'd have to seriously wreck the car to bend it. The opening doors thing is from much older, much less stiff cars. Your issue is probably a body panel/door alignment issue from the factory that is surfacing now.

Definitely body panel alignment if you see it rubbing.

Sounds to me like the front fender has tilted down at the front of the fender and needs to be adjusted. This happened on my Z06 and the first I noticed it was when the right front track tire (305/660/18) started rubbing and wearing through the spat on the fender. After I had a body shop realign the fender the tire rub stopped. Before they corrected the problem the owner of the body shop showed me how the fender was tilted and the lower rear part of the fender was getting close to rubbing on the door. It could also be a problem with the door alignment so you should check how the rest of the door aligns with the aperture panel and the B Pillar.

bending the car from jacking at a jack point? no.

hinge getting worn, loosening, allowing the door to sag? there's a real idea.

Check gaps on door fit front and rear fender if more at the top of front and less at top of rear adjust door fit and check hardware for wear. Using proper jack points should not affect frame.

Jacking has nothing to do with it, especially if you are jacking it correctly. Take it to a good body shop and have them look at it.

All very good points. The spot is about 1/16 off. I never noticed it until it was pointed out to me by the ceramic guy. The body lines are near perfect. I have a 76 and you’re right. Different thing. I tried lifting the door up from the bottom. Lol. Old trick. I know that loosing and adjusting the fender is the right thing now. Again, you all are right. I hate to mention this, but I have a custom build and body shop as a tenant. Lol. At 66, I still like to do things myself. I should take a picture and show you all. You all are good people with tons of experience……

I agree - jacking up the car without opening the doors had nothing to do with it.

I had the left door rubbing the fender when I picked my 19 GS from the dealer and it was new!! There was no paint rubbed off yet and the body shop adjusted the fender. 4 1/2 years later and no issues. The fender was misaligned from the assembly plant.

Hood / Body panel misalignment is not uncommon with the C7.
