Thinking about buying a 2013 427
C6 Grand Sport, ZR1. Love my C7 but it just doesn't have the fun factor of the C6. I don't track my cars. My C7 has the competition seats that aren't very comfortable. The C6 seats aren't bolstered very well , but that doesn't bother me, they are very comfortable. The guys in the C6 forum were all going on about the 427 drop valve problem. I would be ready for that. I love the tech in my C7, but it just bothers me that it isn't as fun to drive. What do you guys think?

2023 C7 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Get the C6. I like all year Corvettes! No sense driving a C7 if you dont like it. I personally think the C6's are looking very old and dated. All the best which way you go!

I am with you corvette mike a C6 is way dated. In 2013 I bought a new C6 grand sport and the difference is night and day to me. I am a big C7 fan

I get it, but the C7 is not as fun to drive. And I don't think they look dated at all. Then the C7 looks dated compared to the C8. Why aren't you guys buying that? Besides it doesn't have a manual.

I'd be all over that C6 427. Had I found a C6 427 convertible when I was looking to upgrade from my C5 that and a C7 Grand Sport convertible were both on my short list. I happened to find the C7 first, so went with that. If I wasn't 100% happy with my C7,I'd absolutely get the 427 and not think twice about it.
On another note, have you considered swapping the comp seats for the sport seats? Maybe that'll help with the comfort issues you're having?

I almost bought a C6 ZO6 before I chose the C7. I always loved the look of the C7 from the first time I saw one, but the C6 had a great looking "traditional" shape too. One of the cosmetic things I couldn't overcome on the C6 was the headlight treatment. They looked like an after thought and not up to the design and refinement level of the rest of the car to me. I went to a local car show where an owner had replaced his C6 headlights with C7 lookalikes and it was almost enough to change my mind. But in the end I really wanted the last model Corvette with a front engine and a manual transmission. It's only a Z51 but it's hoot to drive with enough power and capabilities to get my license in trouble any time.
Best of luck with your decision! I can 100% appreciate anyone that chooses a C6 - the 427 is a monster and the LS models are proven solid, simpler to work on, with lots of parts and modifications available.

The C8 was built upon engineering derived from the C7. The C7 was built upon engineering derived from the C6, and the C5 from the C4 and so on.
I don't believe anyone here thinks the C6 is inferior. I believe most guys understand the evolution of multiple generations. If you can find a C6 that you really like, hop on it. This is what the Corvette experience is about.

Its a little tough to do anything being its winter here in MN. There is a yellow 2013 Yellow 427 I like that is about an hour away, but I can't really do anything about it. I want to drive it 1st. That isn't happening anytime soon.

We have a 2019 GS we bought new, a 2008 Z06 with 10k we bought from the original owner back in October to replace our totaled 2015 Z51. If I had to keep just one Vette the Z06 would stay, that fast revving 427 is so fun to drive, hopefully we never have to make that decision. Here’s a picture from a few weeks ago.

I have both an C6 Z06 and an C7 Z06. I prefer driving the C6. It’s my favorite. Nothing like it. I too believe that if I were compelled to sale one the C7 would be the one I’d sale.

In addition to the valve issue, I seem to recall something about the titanium connecting rods beginning to fail in some cars. You might do a search on that. But I drove one some years back and almost made the jump but at the time decided to keep my 96 GS vert. The 427 was a hoot to drive.

I'm curious as to the purpose of this thread in the C7 Forum. Do you want us to convince your that the C7 is more fun? Or start conflict over which is more fun?

C6, C7 and C8 are all amazing sportscars IMO. As far as what I think, you should own whichever Corvette that gives you the most overall enjoyment whether that be a '53, '23 or any year in in between.

Compared to the C6, it isn't exciting. I love the looks and the tech, but they drive completely different. I drove a 2002 BMW 420i M sport for a while. It was a car at my dad's dealership. That car drove like no other car I've ever driven.. I loved it. If it didn't look like crap, I would have bought it. Not every car connects with every type of person.
