Maybe Found my C7. Advice? 17 Z51 1lt
Hey All,
I been lurking for a c7 on and off for some time. I found a 2017 Z51 1lt M7 for $50k with about 20k miles on it. One owner (im in california). It does have the Bose system.
From what I can tell this looks like a decent deal. The car will primarily be weekend/ Track car.
Should I pull the trigger here? Anything I should be aware of before I jump in? I can return the car in 30days if I dont like it for any reason.
I previously owned 2 Camaro SS 1le's (2020/2022) and some mustang GT's before that. The only other car I am debating is a new Mach1 Handling package. But I wont lie...the C7 makes me drool.
Im a tall dude at 6ft 4. My head sits closer to the headliner than most cars Ive driven but I still find it relatively comfortable.
Any input, advice or anything before I drop the dough and pull the decision? Its certainly appreciated.

First, you said it was an M6. it would be an M7 if it is manual and an A8 for the automatic. If you are going to track it the Z51 is what you would want, the 1LT is not a very desirable package for resale, and you may want the 2LT as you said it would be a weekend car also.

For a weekend track car (which was my intent for my 16 Z51 1LT), you’ve found the right car. I decided to stay with my Camaro as a track car, so ended up going show and weekend cruiser with the vette. Later bought a 19 2LZ Z06.

I think you'll like the GS more for on track. I don't believe any 1LT has heated/cooled seats or HUD or front camera's. If you upgrade to a 2LT and can find a car that has the PDR option, you can record your track time.
PDR=Performance Data Recorder

I wouldn’t do the Mach 1. Performance wise it’s like any normal 5.0 with a GT350 manifold and cold air. It’s literally a bullit with a body kit, a worse manual transmission (GT350 trans) and lower compression. Especially at that price point you could even get a grand sport.

The mach1 has the Tremec transmission, its way better than the MT-82 in the bullitt. It also has the GT500 rear subframe and the handling is way more superior, some extra cooling etc. Ive driven both, and the pp2, the mach1 is a better track car without a doubt and all around feels better to drive (no body roll etc.) I agree with you on price though. My problem is the GS at 65k is 4-5 years older, and trying to find a low mileage one owner that dosn't seem sus seems to be a mission. I just got done looking at 2 that seemed clean to find out they were 4 owner cars and used in all sorts of different states. Just too many red flags.

But does a subframe and cooling warrant a 30-40k up charge from a bullit? The tremec isn’t better, the first thing to go on GT350s are the clutches. Every tuner and trans builder agrees and says the MT82 is the stronger trans. It just needs a clutch for the lock outs and the early ones needs shift forks. Any GT350 making good power has a T56 and there’s a reason. But anyways we both can agree that the corvette whether it be Z51 or a grand sport is the better option. Personally, from what I’ve owned and driven the only car that impressed me is the GT350. I’ve had way more fun and gotten a better driving feel from my M7 corvette. I wouldn’t let the heated/cooled seats or HUD deter you from a 1LT unless that’s high on your wishlist. Good luck finding what you’re looking for!
You’re definitely making the right move.

Ive never heard a single person ever sasy the mt-82 is better than the tremec. You mentioned the clutches, but the bullitt clutch uses the same clutch as the Mach, its the trans thats different. Funny enough my SS 1l clutch was bad out of the factory and took a dive very early on. The cost difference bullitt from Mach HP, is 15k. Not 30-40 . Come on man haha Thanks for the input. I'm verifying if this z51 has magride (i think it does) if so Im scheduling the drive asap. Appreciate the help

I found a 2019 GS 2lt with 17k on it for $66k in the color i want. well kept, 2 owners.
Is this price good? You guys think ill be eating a huge loss in say 2 years time if I decide to sell it?

Based on what i paid last year, that's right on par. As for the value 2 years from now, that's anyone's guess. Hopefully you'll like it enough you won't want to sell it in 2 years!

Go for it. Didn't want to sell my 2019 GS 2LT in two years. I'd miss it too much. The 2LT is the perfect package. I'm 6'2". Very comfy.

That is a good find, great year and fair price. As for what its worth would be in 2 years worry about that in 2 years as nobody knows get it and enjoy it.

Where manual transmissions apply;
All of the gear trains among the Corvette variants are different. The Z51 and GS have the lowest gear train set with first gear being 2.97:1. The standard Stingray first gear ratio is 2.66:1 and the Z06 is 2.29:1.
The '7 Speed Performance Manual (MEP)' name says it all. This transmission is really geared for track performance. If you like 'rowing gears', you'll have a lot of fun.
Corvette used car prices..
A recent article in CF suggest that the Corvette used car prices are still rising
