Considering the purchase of a C7
I currently own a C6 but am considering moving up to a C7. Are there any years or options I should avoid? I am looking at a 2014. I know it is the first year of the C7 and sometimes people say to avoid that one. I am not considering a Z06. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks

Auto or manual? The 2014 auto is a 6spd (8spd after that). The 6spd auto seems to be more reliable.
I had two 2014 C7’s in manual and they were perfect. 2014’s are pretty solid cars and I’d have no issue with either. One of the few examples of a “first year run” being one of the better years!

I’ve seen people with 3LTs have problems with leather bubbling and peeling. I’d personally go with a 2LT. You get the heated and cooled seats, navigation, HUD. I have a 1LT and my last car had all the bells and whistles and I miss it.

A 2014 is a pretty reliable car, but I may be biased. Some reports of electronics problems have surfaced, like the infotainment screen, but by now many of those with the problem should have been fixed. The paint peeling issue seems to affected all model years of the C7, but not all cars have experienced it and the paint on my ‘14 shows no signs of any problems.
If you are serious about the ‘14, just be sure to have it thoroughly inspected (as you should do with any used car you are looking to buy) and then decide on the purchase.
Good luck - the C7 really is a great car and a blast to drive.

I have my 2014 Crystal Red Mettalic convertible up for sale... 3LT automatic only 27K miles... immaculate garage queen. I am 78 now and simply don't drive it enough. Tittle in hand, looking for mid $50's. Get in touch if interested, I can send you a link to my Dropbox account with many pictures, window sticker, build sheet etc. Thanks, Courtney

I wouldn't settle for less than a 2LT, 16 and up. Most of the bells and whistles like AA and HUD are there.

As far as reliability goes, some think the 2014 is one of the best years to buy. I don't know about that, but it certainly is not a problem year.
However, you may want to inquire about certain electronic modifications that were made later in the C7 run such as adapting Apple Play or other programs. If that's not an issue, then go with any year.
If you're looking at a Z06, you know it wasn't offered in 2014. A Z06 will add quite a bit to the price tag.

You will not go wrong with any of the C7 especially those that have been well maintained and come with service documentation. I believe these generations will be the most iconic of the past four groups. They have the epitome of what Corvette started out styling back MY 1983. The C7 says "Corvette." I've owned C3s through C5 and like my C7 the best.

If you plan to track the car, the Z51 or GS have track oriented systems, otherwise the Stingray makes a great touring car. With any of the three you can collect speeding and reckless driving certificates in all 50 states.
