Question ZO6 vs Grand Sport

Can't miss it if you don't need or want it. Drove a couple of Zo6 cars so I know how they feel. I don't use all the power my Grand sport has so why would I want more? A wise man is happy with what he has and a smart man knows when he has enough.

Who said that again? Just curious since a cursory google search turned up nothing. Lao Tzu comes the closest by saying
The wise man is one who, knows, what he does not know.

I've had times I wish I had more. I have never had a time where I wish I had less. I've had many times where I wish I gotten more when it was available. IF there was a Z06 within reasonable reach at the time, I'd have tossed my modded C4 at it with a check.

The Z06 for me.....better to have it & not need it than to need it & not have it

Appreciate the discussion as I was going thru a similar thought process. Finally decided and will be moving from my 2005 C6 convertible to the 2018 Grand Sport in Admiral Blue Metallic! Looking forward to getting to know this new model.

I had a 17 GS coupe with Z07. I now own a 19 vert Z06. 17 was a great car, 19 is a totally awesome car. There is nothing like experiencing raw torque. Just be careful as it can easily get away from you if you have a momentary lapse of reason.

GS all the way by a country mile for the reasons as stated above
if you need the extra thrill of the Z then just take the traction control off for a month and see how you like it
tires are better in the spring and fall on the GS to enjoy the season longer if you are not in cali or Florida or arizona
the driving experience in both is similar and I have had both in different and similar configurations
GS solid, cheaper on insurance, nice lines
Imon,y miss the ZO6 white taillights
either will work
U will not miss the horsepower and you don’t need a dock transplant, your wife says yours is just fine
later eh 🍁

Melting Slicks
I suppose it all depends on who you are !!!!!!! Me, I'm satisfied with what I have owned for the last 4 years. A '19 GS 2 LT
Rich
I would go with the lower mileage newer GS

I owned a 2019 GS Ceramic Grey, before I had an accident, some lady made an illegal turn and I ended up T-boning her. Car was totaled. loved the car and was plenty of power. Fast forward a few years, I ended up picking another corvette this year, 2019 Z Ceramic Grey. Although I love the Z, sometimes I miss the GS due to the useable power on the street. The only reason I didn’t grab the GS was due to wanting to experience something new. After owning both 2019’s, I see why people say the GS is the sweet spot. The Z06 is a monster, you will be feathering the pedal vs being able to lay down on the throttle with the GS. The GS had a less of a learning curve in terms of driving dynamics, with the Z06 it took me a lot longer to feel comfortable. I can now confidently tell you that my hands aren’t sweaty after a drive. In your case I would go GS just because of the the newer year, I made sure to only target 2019 Z06 for the added fixes and upgraded Zr1 components. I experienced zero issues owning both cars.

I have heard a few times that the GS is the "sweet spot," that it combines the excellent NA 6.2 with the looks and features of the wide body. I owned a Z51 Stingray for about 4 years and absolutely loved it. Recently I stepped up to a Z06 because the GS seemed too similar to justify the hassle of switching cars and because, well, I wanted the BFH motor.
is it usable on the street? No. Does it require more caution and delicacy to drive? Yes. Does it make me giggle even more? Also yes.
If I were coming from "no Corvette" to "either GS or Z06" I'd probably choose the GS for the balance. If coming from an existing Corvette, well, I chose the Z.

I guess I'm in the minority. I've had about 20 Corvettes including a Z06/Z07. I bought it as a cheaper option than my 911 GT3. Sadly, I found it to be a major disappointment both on the track and on the street. On the track the chassis could not keep up with the engine unless it was a very long open (read: boring) track. On short tight tracks it was a handful, fun, ate tires, but not quick. Horrible for autocross, the Cup 2's never got warm enough to be sticky and even second gear starts easily resulted in tire spin. On the street just too much engine for the chassis and tires. My track-designed GT3 was a much better street car even. Sure it should be for the price but since I already had the GT3 and wondered what the Z06's purpose was. Now, I still have the GT3 but added a base C7 convertible which adds the drop top driving and is smore than fast enough on the street. I wanted to get a Grand Sport but for 60% of its cost I still have a great car.
