Default What would you do? Tires

A couple nights ago I hit a nasty sharp-edged construction hole with the left wheels. Both left tires have 2-3 inch tears where they were cut by the rims (I will separately be getting the rims professionally checked).

The tires are Michelin AS3ZPs. No longer available.

As I see it, I have three options:

1. Purchase left F/R AS4ZPs.

2. Purchase all four AS4ZPs ($$$$), and keep the two good AS3s for emergency use (they have ~8k miles on them).

3. Purchase all four [insert your choice here], and keep the two good AS3s.

What to do, Collective?

Unfortunately, that's the way I'm leaning, too.

Thanks.

Option 2. Nasty luck on that. Be SURE, SURE, SURE, to check the wheels not only for bends/warp but for hairline cracks.

Thanks all. #2 is where I'm heading.

I have a very good wheel guy (84 yo Mom and my wife scrape too many curbs ...). I will be getting the wheels to him for a very thorough going-over. I'm an engineer and have a pretty good idea of the metallurgy, stress and fracture issues.

Check with the tire people I usually used. They looked around; said not from Z06-size AS4s until likely February. Fortunately, I have a second set of wheels tires, so it's not urgent.

I'm with CorvetteMike2004 on this one. Option 2 most certainly.
I don't like wasting money, but having differential wear patterns by mileage, even though it's 8,000 miles. I wouldn't chance it. Just go new all around is my vote.

I am sorry to read about this.

I am also a with CorvetteMike2004 for two reasons. I would not like different treads on each side of the car and the 4's are two generations newer than the 3's. I would not feel comfortable with 3's on one side and 4's on the other in weather or hard driving.

Costco usually has a $150 off on four Michelin Tires, twice a year if you can wait.

Look for two on ebay, or, do option 2 and sell two on ebay.

3. get some DWS06s if you're okay with non-runflats. no real sense in paying michelin money for allseasons, IMHO.
