Should I replace the battery?
My 15 Z06 is approaching the 8 year mark from the build date with the original battery. Wondering if I should consider replacing it soon or wait til it goes? Everything still functions as it should.

I would hoist a drink, of something expensive to celebrate its longevity, and then go to the Dealership and buy a new battery!

You are living on borrowed time with a battery that old. A little preventative maintenance of replacing the battery could save you a lot of problems.

My 2016 C7 is now 7 years old and is connected to a Deltran Battery Tender when it is parked in my garage. I have been doing this starting with my first 1987 C4 Corvette and have gotten 10 years out of a battery.

Evaluate Risk and Reward: Risk is as mentioned getting stranded with your family at the most inconvenient time and Reward you get another year or two so which is more important to you? I was fortunate at 7 yrs I walked into the garage and car wouldn't start and did all the diagnostics and it was time and I replaced the battery but I felt fortunate because it didn't show any signs and I could have been on a road trip or commute and then would have regretted placing myself in that position shame on me.

No, question, after a battery reaches 6 years old it you are asking to get left stranded somewhere.

You absolutely should. You had a good run. A battery tends to die at the worst possible time.

I too have a '15 with its original battery. I have found many threads with people talking about their battery regiment replacement at 3 years. I have always found that absurd. I have road side assistance and really only commute from home to work and back, plus errands.
Not sure when I will change mine, but it just seems too perfectly fine to replace just yet. That being said I have a new battery sitting on a tender next to my car but that is going in a restomod I am building.
I don't do long road trips, I don't have kids, not married, job isn't crotical if i show up or not... if that helps paint a picture of my opinion.
Figure I will change it in a couple years if nothing has happened.

My 16 still has the OEM. My 16 CTS DD still has the OEM. Sold my 07 in 17 with the OEM still good. Just changed the OEM in my 911 after 8 years. I kinda replace them when they go.....but I'm just crazy like dat.

Thanks for all the insight. I will probably end up replacing it since they're surprisingly inexpensive from the dealership. I've clearly gotten my moneys worth.
I will add that I've never once used a battery tender, but it's typically driven once a week.

I didn't even read your post - because - for $150 if you have to ask about your battery, go buy a new one. The C7's are so dependent on a healthy battery, you should replace yours immediately.

You can not afford a battery... I bet that's why you're in such a dilemma!... Poor guy, well one should probably park it... Might be much more dinerro for a service call to a tow truck to come and get that Corvette to start.

For me this has zero to do with not being able to afford it, and 100% to do with replacing something that is totally fine.
Hurry and replace your wiper blades at 3 years even if they are totally fine... just a waste in my book.

Well done as to getting your money's worth but it will not be gradual, one day you will go to start it and it will click and throw out more codes than an old WWII spy movie.....its well past time, whats left to prove? Maybe Delco will contact you to do an ad?

I do agree with you regarding the wiper blades. Some definitely go overboard on car maintenance.

I had my 2016 battery replaced in the spring.
Chevy had a service special. $200 for their 48 month battery installed.
Cheap insurance as my battery was built in February 2016.
