C7 buying advice
I used to have a C6, sold it and been driving something else but now, I am returning to a C7. I have found two C7 base coupes, Auto, and need your help in selecting one. I am not into racing, just a 74 year old who wants to daily drive and take on road trips. One last hurrah before I get too old for vettes.
one is a 2014 C7 with just under 13k miles for around $48k
one is a $2016 with just over 25k miles for $50k.
Is the 2016 significantly better and more reliable than the 2014?

Is the 16 more reliable? I don't think so 14 was rock solid the 6 spd is reliable.. The A8 has some issues that can be dealt with like changing fluid and running a range device to stop AFM going into v4 mode. I have a 2019 GS A8 and the trams has been great. I have the new fluid from factory and my car has never been in v4 mode. If it were me I would go with the 16 it's newer and only slightly more money. That being said I haven't seen either car nor do I know what trim level or condition they are in.
I had to lol for one last hoorah before your to old and your 74. I'm 52 and it sucks getting in and out. God bless you and I hope I'm still rocking my vett at 74.

The 2014 is a rock solid car!
I have a 2016 and really like having the front parking camera!
I think I would go with the one that has the options I want and a color I can live with. jmho.

What are the trim levels of these cars? I believe you will enjoy a higher trim level and it will make it a little easier to sell when you are finished with it. Unless you like something specific about the 14, I would opt for the newer version. Either car you will be good.............Good luck!!!!

Also, 2014 has the A6 auto trans where 2015 and up have the A8. Some uninformed will advise to stay away from the A8 auto trans due to shudder issues, however only approx 5% of all C7s with A8 experienced the issues and the vast majority of those have been or can be remedied by the GM triple-flush process.

Not knowing how each car is equipped, assuming both are the same I would probably go with the ‘16 since it is newer, not many more miles and not much difference in price. As always, have the car thoroughly checked over prior to signing on the line. Also, if you are worried about the A8 transmission, see if the dealer will have the triple flush done as part of the deal.

The 2016 has Car Play if that matters to you. I had Spotify in my 2015 and had to pull over whenever I wanted to change to another artist or playlist. Wished I had a 16.

Well folks, I ended up purchasing a Grey 2014 C7 with 14k miles on it for $51k. It’s one with red interior and should be delivered by the end of the month. It’s the 3LT with battery protection package (whatever that means).
Wish me luck!
