Default Joker at Costco

I'm on a posting tear recently. Anyway, I'm at Costco this am filling up the GS. As I'm getting ready to select the 91 (all we get here in CA), the guy at the pumps behind me says "Select the 83, it's cheaper." For a moment, I have no clue what he is talking about. Why does he care what fuel I put in the car. Only then do I notice that he's driving a silver 2010 Corvette. Then I got the joke (hey, it was early and I hadn't had my coffee yet). We proceeded to have a nice discussion about our favorite subject.

Have a great day all.

You are right, my wife and I were walking in Breckenridge and wondering why we haven’t seen any Corvettes in town. And we look up a see a beautiful orange C8. So we walk across the Main Street to see it and the owner and his wife were just getting out. They were here with 7 other Vettes. He said 4 were C8s and rest were C6s and 7s. We talked about Vettes awhile and he said they were from Minnesota. They were heading back the next day, so we didn’t get to talk to any of the others. That would have been nice to see their group as they left town.

I always enjoy having a conversation with fellow Corvette enthusiasts. The occasional meet up at a gas station, restaurant or store makes the day.

Just wondering if anyone has gone so far as to join a local Corvette club? You can have conversations with like-minded Corvette owners literally weekly.

I know the current generation typically are not ‘joiners,’ but the synergy of a Corvette club is hard to replicate.

The op was saying to use the cheaper octane gas(83), or 87, whatever it is....

Does it come with complimentary Jorts and New Balances? Where do I sign?

Even with coffee, I would not have caught the joke and ended up looking at him with a blank stare not knowing how to respond. You did way better.

Ive never heard of 83...i think he meant 87. Ive met a bunch of car enthusiasts filling up at Costco. Most recently a guy with a C8. We chatted for a good 20 mins.

The OP said it had nothing to do with the grade of gas so I don't understand how this could be the joke.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to octane after having time to think about it, but......I had to think about it. Maybe I'm getting old.
