Default My faith in this site and its members

Occasionally I sell a few odds and ends on this site (still have a window valet, plugs into your OBD 2 port and allows you to lower your windows with your fob, in perfect condition 50 bucks plus shipping) and recently I sold a custom steering wheel to a nice fellow in Canada named Terence. As with other items previously I have sold them on faith; no paypal (or related site); we agree, I ship the part and the buyer sends/wires money. Either of us could be deceptive in this day and age. But in the 5 times or so I have done so in the last 16(!) years it has never failed. My thanks to Terence (he did get a great deal on a very nice CF/leather D shaped wheel), he was a pleasure to deal with and a credit to Vette owners and this site and to all of you who have proven decent and fair......Long May You Run.....

Several years ago, I bought a set of tires from a guy on the west coast. He shipped the tires to my installer and I mailed a check. I have found that people on this website have class, character and love their Corvettes.

We stayed at Wendall Strode"s B&B in Bowling Green while visiting the Museum and they had no room keys because only Corvette people sstayed there. It closed after he retired from the NCM.

I've blindly trusted two strangers on this site (of course they have been members for years) and sent them money via Venmo with faith that they would send the product as described and have to agree, so far so good. Most all have class and are stand-up individuals who keep their word.

For 99.9% + of the members here they are stand up people and can be trusted. Obviously it is up to you to determine your level of comfort when selling or buying items on the forum. But here lately, there have been a lot of scammers working the forums just looking to take advantage of members, especially those looking to buy something. So, a word of caution - proceed carefully when you are engaged in a financial transaction, especially when it may deal with a moderate to large sum of money. Be sure you are covered in the event something goes wrong with the transaction.

Not trying to be a party pooper - just telling you from experience dealing with the scammers lately that activity has definitely increased.

I have had all positive experiences buying and selling on this forum. Facebook marketplace is another story. I recently sold some items on that site and 90% of perspective buyers wanted to send me a google code to click on and use Zelle to wire money to my bank without even seeing the items.

I've bought all sorts of things here over the last the last 20+ years without a single issue... ever. Of course, I never have tried to buy anything from a brand new member with no Forum history.

I agree. My trust in the members here - in their advice, as trading partners, general guidance - is marrow deep.

I don't think I can say that about any other group of folks I've never met.

Same here! Bought a few odd and end things from here and have always had a good experience. I did however have a scammer reply to my WTB thread. They are out there so be careful all. I'd recommend looking for a history here to make sure they are actually part of this community. Its a shame there are so many people trying to take advantage of others.

I have nothing but praise for the members here also. I have never bought anything (not out of fear) but have sold a couple of items here including my car which I later had a change of heart on and immediately wired back the money with fee's to the buyer which he totally understood my dilemma. Great people here.

An additional consideration is how long has the person been a member? How many posts, and in which sub- forums?

Sold my C3 to a guy in Chicago back in 2007. He sent me a certified check. I shipped the Vette to him. No issues. I recently bought a c7 from a guy in Kentucky. I sent him a large deposit via Venmo. No issue.

have to look at posting history and follow your gut.

I would have no problem dealing with members on this forum with whose user names I recognize.
