I started a thread over on the C6 page on what Corvette should I buy? I've come down to a 2010 Grand Sport or, for this site, a 2016 Stingray. I like both. Some of the comments on the other page spoke to the transmission issues that the C7 have had (or still has?). I read about this online and gathered some details. I will now spend some time on this site, too. What can you tell me about it right now? I don't want to take hours and hours reading if I can help it. Does a flush take care of the problem or is the problem something more? The info I gathered also told me to find out if the first owner broke the tranny in right (change fluid after 500 miles?). When you buy a used Corvette, you cannot usually do this. What do you know? I'm a little concerned about buying the C7 now. Talk to me plz.

I had a C6. I never had any mechanical issues, or anything like that. Now I have a C7. I like the C7 much better. It has a far more solid ride, the interior is much nicer, and IMHO, its a much nicer looking car. Keep in mind that my C6 was a 2LT. My C7 is a 3LT with Z51, so obviouxly some upgrades.

Along with the "possible" A8 problems, some folks with C7s have had dashboard problems with the 3LT interiors, many more have not. $3K repair to replace if it happens, some folks have had them repaired at trim shops.

Then, when I talked to the owner of the C7 today... he told me it didn't have magnetic ride, when the ad said it did... and told me it has Onstar Nav, not normal Nav... two big changes for the bad!

C7 trans issues were primarily fluid related and overblown though not insignificant. Bought my 17 Stingray a little under two years ago and had similar concerns. Checked with dealer who confirmed mine had the flush. No issues. Never had mag ride so don’t miss what I never had. I can upgrade the shocks if I want as I did on my C5 but have had no need. Car handles fine for my use. Newer car would be a better bet imo. Every generation has uncommon (but endlessly talked about) issues and Corvette owners are a little OCD in temperament so it’s hard to get the true extent of problems. If you want newer tech and some upgrade in interior refinement and horsepower, go C7. That being said, saw a red C6 today that turned my head. Can’t go wrong

All have different options, make sure it has what you want before purchasing. Mine has factory nav, I have never tried it. Mine also has apple car play, that is what I use if I need navigation since it is always updated. I am not sure why anyone would want magnetic ride, just more expense…

The A8 transmission shudder issue (affected approx 5% of A8 C7s) has been remedied for the most parts by GM triple flush process. I wouldn't let that worry you.

Traded in a C4 for a C7…loved the C4 as it was my first one. Flogged it at the NCM road course with non-existed shocks. Yah Baby! 115 mph was scary.

Traded it in on a ‘19 C7. The difference was night and day. Ah, 134 is fast enough. Don’t need to break
the sound barrier.

Even Ms Diva of the Texas Highway Patrol loved it.

The jump from my C6 to my C7 felt like a two generation jump as so much was improved in the C7 - the interior was a big upgrade. More supportive seats with good lateral bolsters, better materials and I love my magnetic ride control. I can soften up the suspension when my wife rides with me, have it firmer for my daily driving and the track mode works great on the track! Enjoy whatever you end up buying.

I've had a C4, C5, C6 and C7. Loved the C4. C5 had a lot of problems. C6 was great. And the C7 is the best by far. The seats, the ride, and the interior quality are much better than the C6. But you really can't go wrong with either. I thought it was easier to see out of the C6, but the C7 has a backup camera.

Mine were stick shifts, so I can't speak to the C7 transmission. The only issue that was really common on the C6s is the headlight lens crazing. Take a good look at the lenses on the 2010. If they haven't been replaced yet, they probably will need to be eventually. I replaced mine myself. It took a little time, but it really wasn't hard.

We love our GS, two tops, wide body. What's not to love!

C7 just has the look of flat and wide.

Have 11K miles and it a DD for me, GREAT MPG !!

Bought Sept 2021 9000 miles on it.

I had a 2006 and have a 2016.

Mag Ride-On the 2006 I thought it was a waste of money, as I could feel no difference switching through the Modes.

The 2016 was a definite difference, especially after I got the Tranny Flush. I never had a problem with the Tranny, it just improved greatly after the Flush. I keep it in Sport, Mode unless my Wife is in the car. She can get car sick if I do not put it in Tour.

Z51-I did not have the Z51 in the 2006 and do in the 2016. I like to push the curves on PCH and mountain roads, so I really appreciate the Z51 Package. The bigger brakes and cooling come in handy.

The other thing I like is the Convertible Top in the C7. It locks automatically when it goes up. No, fiddling with a T Handle to lock the top down.

I have owned a C3, C4, C5, C6 and now a C7. Each generation was a vast improvement over the last. My C6 was a 2013 Torch Red GS 2LT M6 convertible. I loved that car. Bought it new and 50,000 miles later I traded it for the 2019 Ceramic Matrix Grey, Heritage Package, 2LT, A8 convertible with MAG ride and NPP that the wife saw on the show room floor and fell in love with. Happy wife, happy life. It also helps that she loves cars. I had the triple flush done about 4 months after I bought the car because the new fluid did not come out until February of 2019 and mine was built in September of 2018. No transmission issues and for added measure I installed the Range Device to stop engine from going into V4 mode. We have 22,000 miles on the car now. If you go with a GS or Z06 the only big expense early on would replacing the tires. The original equipment tires are a summer only fantastic track and street tire with a low wear rating. I replaced mine at 17,000 miles. At the time last summer, the new AS 4's had not been released yet so I had to go with another set of PSS's or garage the car for the entire summer and that was not going to happen. So, in another 10,000 miles I will be looking to replace them again. Bottom line, buy the GS you won't regret it. I know I haven't.

Both C6 and C7 are great sportscars. I recommend you gather all the basic info you can on both (not just from a C7 forum), comparing to determine which best meets your preference and needs. However don't let others chose the car for you. Good luck!

If you have an iphone, just use waze or google maps. I never use my OEM navi system.
The C7 is much improved over the C6.

I noticed that as the generations changed the interior got tighter. The roomiest was the C5, got smaller with the C6, the C7 even tighter. So if you have size, be sure to sit in them. I would go for the newest car you can afford.

I have had 3 C3’s, 1 C6, and now have a C7 GS. Loved C3’s and didn’t want something newer. Then I bought the C6. Man I loved it. Couldn’t ask for more. Then I traded for the C7. Man do I love this car. Every step up was right for me. YMMV. I still have a C3 but going up for sale. Don’t want to work work on/maintain it anymore. Just want to drive my C7.
