Which Corvette should I buy? C6 or C7?
#21
I was going to get a C6 GS when I first started looking. I wanted that 427. Performance #'s were graet and loved the look of the car. Plus - 427! Just for giggles I looked at the C7 before I pulled the trigger as I'd never given them much attention. Once I got a look at the interior it was all over. The bells, the whistles, the actual design of the interior. Corvettes were always blasted for cheap looking interior. The C7 did away with that. There are some features of the C6 exterior I like a bit better, but I'm not looking back. Never drove a C6, but as others have said, its a better car. Go with the Z51/2LT and don't look back.

In 2013 I bought a new G/S convertible , I now have a 2014 3LT convertible and I will tell you there is a night and day difference. I would never go back to a C6 because the C7 shut the door on the C6

C6 is a fantastic car....until you drive a C7. I didn't get Mag ride on my C7 which supposedly actually works. I had it on my C6 and could not tell any difference between settings.

The C7 is a better car by most metrics. But the question you have to answer for yourself is, "Is the C7 x amount of dollars better than the C6 to me?"
I'm looking to upgrade my C6 GS next year and for a while I've been debating between the C7 GS or the C8. After selling my C6, it will probably cost around $25k to upgrade to the C7 GS or $45-50k to upgrade to the C8. After considering those numbers the decision was easy. The value-per-dollar just isn't there for the C8 for me. What's an upgrade worth to you?

I went from a C5 to a C7 and was expecting a marked upgrade in all aspects ---- surprise, surprise ---
turned out to be a tremendous upgrade
I see you've had a C6 -- but you really need to dive a C7 to see & feel the differences.
A difference on the C7 --- the sticker with the equipment codes is located near the battery cover in left rear corner of the cargo area
Good luck with the search.

Should I jerk off (C6) or get laid (C7)?

About 25-26% of the C7s' are manual transmissions. Obviously the rest are automatics. If there were really a problem with the automatic transmissions at large, you would see pages and pages of threads about it. They don’t exist.
The eight speed automatic transmission in the C7 is quite robust and I'm sure many of them have been flushed and are fine.
The 2014 is the only year of the C7 generation where the 6L80 automatic was carried over from the C6 generation.
OP, since you mentioned the Stingray model, a Z51 package in the Stingray is quite a steal. The GS is complete with the Z51 package and is awesome looking, but the price will be higher for the wide body kit..
The C7 Corvette is so much better than any other model Corvette I've owned. It's interior is much improved over the C6. But for the C8, I don't see the value, at least another 40 to 50K to replace what I have with my Z51. No, I've found the generation Corvette that I like and I'm happy.

Nothing new here, and apparently, GM has not learned a thing regarding this in many years.,
The leather dashes are sometimes problematic, but it is not a given on either generation.
