Default Front splitter

Ok just did this tonight.... so pissed. Has anyone ever tried to rub or buff out their front splitter to hide scuff marks. Or should I bite the bullit and order a new one.

Sand it, paint it or wrap it. Or replace it.

It appears to be the black plastic one as opposed to the carbon flash. Could try carefully using a heat gun to smooth out the rough scratched bits.

It will never look right if "repaired." Unless you'll be happy with a somewhat obvious "repair," replace it.

Clean it with a prepsol that is used before painting a car. Then use a flat black spray paint to paint the splitter. You might be able to sand it but it might look worse after trying to sand out those scratches. Spraying with a flat black spray paint will tend to hide the scratches by making them less visible. Depending on how good or bad it looks you can then decide whether to replace the splitter. Painting it will turn it into a 5 or 10 ft car Vs a 25 ft car now.

I had the same thing. Cleaned it, sanded it, primer and painted it Carbon Flash. Looked pretty good and eventually got stone chips and I painted it again. I eventually went with a ACS splitter, which I love, looks great but not a great investment, they all get stone chips. A new poverty splitter probably run $180-200, pretty cheap. I kept my old one in case the one on the car gets whacked. It happens.

I would sand the entire thing if I decided to "repair" it to make it look uniform

I would get rid of poverty splitter altogether and go ACS

I did the same thing 2 1/2 years ago. I sanded out the gouges and then used Armour All Plastic and Trim Restorer. I only reapply it about once a year. Unless you get down close to the splitter you can't see my opps.

Default Splitter

That's not too bad, actually I could live with it or fix it like some have said. I have a carbon fiber splitter that took out a racoon one morning on my way to work. Looked a lot worse than that. I sanded it down and clear coated it then wrapped it with 3M paint protection clear. I have resigned that I worry a lot more about the appearance of my vehicle than anyone else. The racoon met his maker but it also ripped off the winglet, I picked it up and had to screw it back on with some subtle hardware. Good enough for this ole country boy. The first week I had the CF splitter I pulled forward just a tad too far and touched a sidewalk, cant have anything good, My next mod was a front facing camera, haven't done that again. Enjoy your ride.

That would probably be a good idea. Otherwise I would be concerned that a spot repair would end up being noticeable. However, replacement may be an option to consider, depending on how your current one turns out, as the poverty splitter is not all that expensive.

After one too many repeat occurrences I decided to just live with it and perhaps one day I will replace it, but not today! Life is too short. Just sayin!

Replace it. Probably not a good idea to go spend a lot on one. There’s a strong change you’ll damage it again. Hard to avoid sometimes. My current splitter is from Extreme Online Store.

Also consider yourself lucky that it happened on the OE part. I had an aftermarket lip that shattered/splintered on contact with a curb. At least the OE only scuffs. Keep that in mind when looking for an aftermarket replacement.

Contrary to what some may say, it can be adequately repaired. But, why bother? They're a perpetual pain in many driving environments. Toss it, forget it, and drive on!
