Oil Life Feature
I recently discovered the oil life feature on my 2015 3LT. Does the readout reflect oil life remainig or oil life "consumed"
Why would I want to reset it before the next oik change?
If service by a dealer or specialty Corvette shop would't they reset the feature
I bought the car used and drive it only 900 miles during the past 10 months. Shild I change the oil before the gage advises me to or at specific mileage intervals?
Does the 2015 C7 have a dry sump system?
Does it require a specific brand or type of oil? (not that I had planned to take it to, say, Jiffy Lube
What else do I need to know?
Thanks

Oh, you mean the "Owner's Novel"? Which one?
Forgive my intended humor, but as long as I was tending to other matters, I simply was reminded of the issue and one of the beauties of this Forum is to ask a simple questio(s) and not have to stop my other activties and fumble through hundreds of pages to find the answer to a single matter. Isn't that what a "forum" is all about?
Nevertheless your response was (more of less) appropriate and appreciated. What if I didn't have a manual? I did buy the car used. With all due respect, I use this forum to deal with what I thought was a simple question and solicited advice on a couple of related matted by the manual...er, novels. There are two of them you know one for the car and one for the so-called :Infotainment system. I'm glad I have both but why not use the forum to ask a single question?
With all due respect,''Ill bet if I called a local dealer to ask the question, I wouldn't have recived a simlar reply.
Never rthe less, given the time I'm reluctantly responding to your response, I may have as well gone over to where my car is stored, taken out the manual - er novels - and put off what I was woring on for another day. I guess I could have called in sick tomorrow.
In all seriousness, I do appreciare your kind response... Thank you PEACE!

Remaining oil life from both mileage and age perspectives.
Why would I want to reset it before the next oik change?
You reset it after your oil change.
If service by a dealer or specialty Corvette shop would't they reset the feature.
If they know to do it and how to do it.
Resetting the OCM (Oil Change Monitor) Scroll down to oil life remaining on the DIC (Driver Information Center, left control on the steering wheel) and press and hold the Set/Reset button.
I bought the car used and drive it only 900 miles during the past 10 months. Shild I change the oil before the gage advises me to or at specific mileage intervals?
Considering you don't put many miles on your C7, you should change annually to keep your power train warranty in tact.
Does the 2015 C7 have a dry sump system?
If you have a Z51, Grandsport or Z06 you have a dry sump, if base Stingray you have a wet sump.
Does it require a specific brand or type of oil? (not that I had planned to take it to, say, Jiffy Lube
Yes, GM recommends Mobil1 5w-30 or 0w-40 ESP dexos 2 motor oil. I would not take a C7 to Jiffy Lub or any quick-change outlet, especially if you have a dry sump.
What else do I need to know?
That you need an owner's manual.
Thanks

Back in Feb you asked for some simple advise and the first response suggested you review the Owners Manual. You responded “Sounds like good advice” “Thanks”
Now you do the same and sarcastically rant on about how much of a pain it is to use the manual. Can’t have it both ways. If you want accurate information from the best source then the manufacturer might be the best option. If you want info and advice from a group of people you’ve never met on the internet then your in the right place. Just because we belong to and post on this forum doesn’t automatically make us experts. Your choice.

Not sure on the 2015, however, I know on the 2016 & later that the OLM will count down to 0% left after 12 months even if the vehicle is not driven.
Not related to the Corvette - Our 2018 Fusion Sport will also count down to 0% after 12 months.
Best wishes.

All C7s count down to 12 months for an oil change. Miles are not needed to get to 0% left.

The rant was not deserved. Did you "discover" the feature while the car was in storage? Presumably you were in the car and could have grabbed the book to read later. You didn't call a dealer and you shouldn't expect a dealer-type answer in here. As a regular poster here, you know there is a search function, and this question is frequently answered. You didn't say you don't have the manual, why would someone assume?
I think people often get annoyed reading posts where people just don't want to put any effort on their own, and expect others to do the legwork for them. Again, as a regular poster, you know this. Rant not deserved.

Well, I must say this is the first time I've received rants about my rant.
i knew I was being a bit sarcastic when I replied and so included some words to that effect in my message.
My apologies to any of those I might have offended.But,C'mon..

The owners manual is obviously a great resource.
However, when I have a simple question, I simply type it into Google search along with the words "C7 Corvette Forum." I can guarantee someone has already asked the same question(s) I have...and probably multiple times.
So with that, I just read all of the previous answers. The forum IS invaluable. But for such simple and well covered topics, there's usually no need to start another thread.
