I have to politely disagree. The stakes are much much higher for not having insurance vs. not having an extended warrantee. So I would not compare the two. Also, extended warrantee companies for cars are in business to make money. So suggesting that most people file a claim does not add up for me. Just a different viewpoint, not meant to be mean.

I self-insure for everything that will not hurt my financial future and only get insurance for items that are mandated by law or the loss could really hurt me financially.

A claim of 4 or 5k will not ruin my financial future but a house fire with a 500K loss will be a major dent.

Hope everything works out for you. I also had trouble with my AC, some days it worked other days it didn't--dealer replaced compressor and it worked for a few weeks. Took it back and they couldn't find the problem. Took it to another dealer and within half an hour that dealer found a pinched wire that was causing the problem. Works fine now!

And it’s refundable (based on balance of miles /years)… if you sell…

Had same issue in ‘16 Z06. Add to that a new supercharger.

Extended warranty paid for itself many times over.

plus convertible top failed while in for service. New hydraulic assembly required. Dealer fixed it and told me later.

winning!

bTW: install a range device on any automatic C7 not labeled ZR1. So much better.

My extended already paid for water pump, coolant tank, belt tensioner, AC compressor and one mag ride shock. I chose wisely…..

Yall should specify exactly what extended warranty you purchased. I presume you mean the GMEPP (GM extended protection plan) sold at Chevrolet dealerships. That helps other owners.

Yes it's the warranty offered by the dealer when I bought the car. GMEPP.

My service person was out today so hopefully tomorrow brings good news. I'm not too worried about it. The Vette mech was very confident it will workout based off his years of experience.

Did service manager think that the warranty would cover the magnetic ride update?

UPDATE - Everything has been confirmed and covered except the fuel system issue. The inspector wants the tank dropped and then he can re-inspect to verify. Once verified, it would also be covered.

However, if the cracked fuel sender is found not to actually be cracked I would be on the hook for the repair. Tear down alone is $840.
I'm deciding now if I want to take that gamble or not.

True, but stats have been known to be wrong as well from time to time... YMMV...

Unfortunately, machines are meant to be used. Sitting idle is bad for cars. Abuse is bad. Intended usage is not. Just my opinion/observation over the years of ownership. YMMV... Good luck getting sorted. Sounds like you'll be fine.

Just heard from the dealer again. They used a camera to verify the cracked fuel system. So looks like tear down can move forward and the warranty will cover everything!
Money well spent at purchase for this warranty.

I'm finally winning

For those wondering, the mag suspension update is not covered by warranty. It's only $350.
Well worth it from what I've heard.

I don't think so but don't quote me on that. The vette mech did say that my issue is very common though.
