Ralph, this may be the one. ha ha I've purchased 7 cars from Carmax and never had an issue. As others have said they offer a month to be sure it is the car you want. They also have great extended warranty packages. That should take some of the worries out of purchasing that car if you have any. You should get that info up front to investigate because they only offer their warranties at the time you purchase the car. Helps to know beforehand so it is not another thing to think about while going through the sales process. Good luck and post pics if this is the one.
This is the car I'm going to agree to buy today.

I think you are confusing Carmax and Carvana. Carmax is brick and mortar.

Targa. I made myself nuts and wimpy thinking I couldn't handle the top. This morning I went to the dealer, grabbed ahold of that sucker, pulled it right off, stuck it in the trunk, and then put it back on. I smiled all the way home Thanks for asking Jimmy.

Your car looks fantastic. Congratulations! Is it a Z51? I'm guessing at that because of the wheels.

Ralph, I got the warranty as well. People who say it doesn't cover much are high. It basically includes all electrical and all mechanical. What's not included are consumables such as pads, plugs, bulbs, belts, hoses, fluids, etc. Also excluded are glass, upholstery, moldings, trim, paint, squeeks, rattles, wind noise.

For example anytime my wife's Volvo went into the shop (which was way too often for various things) they always said the brakes needed to be replaced. I declined this service and did it myself where I discovered they were about 1/2 worn and thus totally fine. In fact the rear brake had so little wear I didn't even bother.

Prior to our C7 I'd never purchased an extended warranty. The thought of all the very expensive technology in the car prompted me to make the buy this time. I'd recommend the same to anyone buying a C7 from CarMax.

Yes, it is a Z51. I pulled the window sticker yesterday, it has everything except navigation. I only drive around town so no biggie for me, but Carmax listed it as having nav... I think their idea of nav is the compass. on the screen.

Thanks Catfish, I am leaning toward the warranty.

Thanks. I am thinking of the warranty. I looked around the Carmax site and didn't find much useful info on the warranty. Some said they looked at a warranty (may have been one of the other online stores) and it didn't cover much and was not worth the expense. I had a warranty on my 2010 Vette and used it once. I traded up the 2010 and they reimbursed the unused portion of the warranty premium.
This is the car I'm going to agree to buy today.

Ralph, I hope you pulled the trigger on the extended warranty as it covers EVERYTHING you would expect. I'm not sure what those who said coverage was not adequate were looking at or looking for. Also they offer very nice options of yrs/miles and deductibles. A great peace of mind when purchasing a car 5 years or older.

Yes and no. They also give the option to change deductibles for a higher or lower payment. If you trust the condition of the car or are ok with more out of pocket if needed you can get the 5yr/75k miles for $1500. Again the only issue is you only have one shot to get the extended warranty and that is at time of purchase.

Congratulations. Smart move on the warranty. My buddy recently purchased a Ford Escape from CarMax and did buy the extended warranty. The engine needed replacement a few months after purchase. He took the Ford back to CarMax and they handled getting the car to Ford and having Ford replace the engine. All good and he has nothing but good things to say about CarMax customer service.

I bought mine from Vroom couple weeks ago and did the CPO inspection at a Chevy dealer. Quoted $240, paid $300 "after tax and fees". I feel like they didn't do sh*t beyond looking at the windshield wipers and saying "yep that's a corvette."
