Build a C7 grand sport or get z06?

Get the Z. It cost me 25k to take a SS Camaro to over 700 wheel. If I had bought a ZL1 it would of been under 9k. The same applies for the vette platform. You will spend more from the jump but it pays for itself right away.

The LT1 could handle the same amount of power of the LS3 as the pistons are the same style construction, the main issue is the tighter ring gap on the LT1 engines. If someone wanted to change out the rings and gap them for boost then the LT1 pistons would do just fine all day long. Bad thing is if you go that far in tearing the engine down you might as well spend the $1200 and put forged pistons/rods with better rings in the engine.

Beautiful and thank you for the follow up and validation that you made the right choice. At least the second time!

IMO, the key question before the question is "Who is doing the work?"
If you're capable and have the tools, I'd go GS to learn the platform then add the power once comfortable plus it's always more fun to build and much more gratifying when you win.
If you're farming the work out to a shop, start with the Z06 from the start.
