Default Windshield Residue

Help! There is some kind of residue on the inside of my windshield I can’t seem to remove. Not sure if it’s the Adam’s Interior cream paste I accidentally got on it or what? I have tried just about everything I have to remove it but alas it’s still there. There’s got to be something you guys have used before that cleans the glass.

Default Residue

Try an ammonia glass cleaner like original Windex (cover the dash, etc with towels). Most glass cleaners contain no ammonia, but sometimes you need the ammonia in order to cut into smudges. If that doesn’t work, try misting with a detailer (I use Maguires) and rubbing with a clay bar, THEN clean with window cleaner to remove clay bits. BTW, you will have to toss the clay bar afterward.

Best of luck & let us know how it goes,
Kangarew

If it happens to be something from Adam’s, give them a call and ask for advice. They give very good customer service.

Good suggestions guys, the alcohol didn’t help, paint thinner didn’t help, Windex with ammonia 👎🏻, Krud Cutter 👎🏻, I’ll try a clay bar next.

I’m not sure what the residue is on the glass, my only guess was the Adam’s. Keep the suggestions coming, thanks.

Okay, tried the clay, it didn’t work either. I thinking maybe a well placed rock? 🤔

I wonder if a fine rubbing compound would remove it? I know that that will remove Adams Graphene Ceramic Coating high spots as I had some to remove that I missed during the application. Put a dab on a micro fiber and according to Adams, don't use much pressure.

If you can, take a pic. Totally curious lol.

Try Mr. Clean white pads. It is like 5000 grit and won’t scratch the glass.
I just had a similar problem. Got something on the inside glass and couldn’t get it off.
Turns out the new inspection sticker I got in April appears to have a new adhesive that dissolves.
Wound up smearing my windshield as I cleaned it.
Took me 3 days of using windex and Spray Away glass cleaner and paper towels to get it clear.

Try Mr. Clean eraser & or #0000 steel wool (4 ought). Guaranteed not to scratch the window. I would use in conjunction with alcohol. Very

I just looked on e- bay and there are different Mr. clean magic erasers ? Which one is best for the windshields. They have with Dawn, Durafoam ?
Thanks,
Rich

I use the "Original".

I had had two black smudges on the passenger door and a re-occurring one by the gas lid opening. I used different methods to try and get rid of them and nothing worked. I remembered several people on the Forum suggesting these pads. I borrowed one from my Wife. I wet the area down and used the pad. They all disappeared with no damage to the car! The one by the gas cover occasionally shows up, I have no idea why, I am very careful at the pump, and I wash the car by hand.

Now, that pad is in the garage.

Be careful, the Magic Erasers are mildly abrasive. They are made of melamine foam.
