I bought my C7 used with 18,500 miles. Had to drive it home about 135 miles and once I got on I70 coming from St Louis I knew right off that it needed the GM flush. I had a few months till the warranty was up so I took it in to my local dealer and they flushed it and no problems after that. Had my 17 Sierra flushed a few years back cause it was shuttering also, flush fixed it. My 16 Camaro that I sold had 250 passes down the track and 13500 miles and it never shuddered and is still in the car after all those passes and miles plus the fluid has never been changed. If it don't shudder don't flush it, just leave it alone.

Try get cash settlement from Carvana if you like the car. Otherwise why bother, give it back.

"Symptoms", yes ?

I'm getting ready to jump in the pool. I tried searching and get many different random results (of course) so if there is a thread that completely explains my questions, feel free to point me to it.

If not, may I ask on which cars this problem occurs and whether or not it happens (eventually ?) with ALL C7s with the A8 tranny ?

Otherwise, for the newbies (or which I am one), can you explain what this triple flush is, whether or not the dealer is required to do it under warranty and if not, what it would cost to someone to have done ?

Does it happen to ALL C7 A8s eventually ? 1 out of 3 ? 1 out of 10 ? How often ?

And thanks for listing those symptoms !!!

TIA

The new tranny fulid and the flush corrects the problem. Otherwise the car is fine.

The figures I've heard thrown around over the years from articles, conversations etc is less than 5% of A8 C7s experience the shudder issues. The issue is blown out proportion on forums as so many post/complain about having the issue, however the thousands of C7 A8 owners don't go to forums to post that they don't have the issue.
The triple flush now fixes the issue in most all cases and is covered under your 60/60 drivetrain warranty.

Many owners don't realize they have a problem. Forum members do. Many of these cars are sold to doctors, lawyers and Indian chiefs

I expect there may be some who are oblivious to having A8 shudder, but doubt there's many. In regard to your doctors/lawyers/indian chiefs crack, are you implying they aren't capable of knowing when they have something wrong with their vehicle?

And just curious, whats the reasons you would never buy from Carvana, Vroom, etc?
Well primarily because I prefer to purchase my dailey drivers new and these sellers aren't likely to have the collector/investment grade sportscars (mostly C2-C3 Corvettes) that I've buying/selling over the last 44 years.

AND, just for the reason you are having. When I go to inspect a used Corvette and find something wrong with it, or it's not as described in the seller's listing (which happens more often than not) I just simply walk away.
Something tells me it's not that simple when purchasing from Carvana, Vroom etc. after they have already prepared the vehicle, processed the sale and delivered it to you. I might be wrong.

In my case, I had a 2016 Z51 and around 8K miles and not quite 2 years I started noticing the RPM fluctuation. I thought, maybe going to get the shudder. It took maybe 2 more months and it started. Right around 1500RPM on smooth roads major vibrations. Took it in and they did the flush. That resolved the problem. I can't say it was permanent, as it was done in March of 2019 and until I traded in December for a 2019 GS I had no issues. I still can't believe what I paid as at the time, dealers were practically giving them away. Of course, they paid less for my trade too. I should have kept the Z51 and sold it in this new alternate universe we live.

Maybe you can contact a dealer and see if it had the flush done already? I can’t speak for the A8 as I have the A6 but when I first got my car I wondered if something was wrong with the transmission. It was just the car going back and forth into V4 mode. A range afm device solved that problem.

I have a 2015, went to a dealer and won't do it for free because my power train warranty is up. They want $800 to do the triple flush

Well if you have or are starting to get the shudder, $800 seems like a bargain to me, as it cures the dreaded issues in most all cases.
