Has anyone had a problem with their rod bearing in engine? Mines locked up and is being worked on now. A new engine or will they try to fix the rod bearing and rebuild the engine? It’s being covers by warranty!

Will need to be disassembled completely, sent to machine shop, and reassembled with good parts. Once you have metal like that go through the engine, all of your bearings are likely trashed. simply replacing a bearing is just putting together a grenade.

Personally, I would push GM to supply/install a new engine as opposed to rebuilding yours.

Tough break there. Good luck with the repair. Care to share what the cause of the failure was?

That's going to have shavings throughout all the oil journals at this point so I'd want a new engine. All it takes is one sliver to go through a journal and another ring gets trashed. Crate motor time for sure. Good luck in your repair. Take care.

I agree with the above.
I'd want a new engine even if I had to kick in some of my own money to get it.

lol man my car kept running hot and I took it to the shop. They kept it for 2 months and got it back out it was doing the same thing. I drove it for 20’mins my engine locked up and had it towed to the dealership. My warranty requested a tear down and my mechanic just sent me this explaining what happened. Lol he definitely said he would recommend a new engine. But the warranty company will do whatever is cheap smh a dam shame.

Burning Brakes
Some of the 14' s had bad fan assemblies that would fail to turn on when needed . Most of us that replaced our fans, used the Z06 replacement which was 600 watts instead of the stock 500 watts. The faulty fan would start right up after restarting engine but had achieved at least 260 +. How long you fought the overheating could have been factor for rod bearing failure.
