Default Scan disk

I put all my music on a scan disk and play it using "media" button. Today as I was driving all of a sudden the music stopped. The screen still showed the current song but no sound. I switched to bluetooth and it picked up my i phones satellite radio app. At a traffic light I went to remove the card, usually done by pushing it in but it did not pop out. Got home and removed if with my fingernail but when putting back in, there was no "spring" action. I pushed it in as far as it would go but it started playing a song that was different from the one that had stopped and it would only let me browse from that artist. My question is, how can I replace just the SD slot? Can it even be done?

I'm surprised you can use the SD slot for music. I use it for the PDR. I put all my music on a usb drive, and plug it in behind the screen. I haven't had any issues that way.

The slot can be replaced. It pulls out and do the R/R on the plug and then push in the new part.

This is the slot that is inside the console not for the PDR.

EDIT: Try cleaning the port in the console to get it to register, I see you aren't referring to the PDR slot which threw me for a loop, I need to check the center console even has an SD slot, had no idea

Yeah $350 ? This just in , I hang a 4 x 1 USB hub into one of the USB slots behind the screen. They are found and indexed just fine, name them individually that way you know what is on which and they show up by name in info when you “Browse” thru the DIC .As long as they are formatted correctly they will work.I have been doing this since my 2014. Currently I have 2 x 64g and an (8) gig on the one slot. Best and happy holidays to a group of guys that love these cars !!

UPDATE

I bought a used sd/usb connector. This one the card does "spring" back out unlike my original but is not showing up under "media" with or without the card inserted. Looking at two options here, risk buying a new one and getting the same result or putting my tunes on a usb drive. I would think that my entertainment center should recognize the new slot and not need to be programmed. If option B, can someone let me know how to put my music from either the SD card or my computer onto a usb?

Thanks in advance

optional question: Are the two usb's in the console supposed to provide phone charging capability?

I decided that since my original worked but the card would not lock in I took apart the used one. Two very small circuit boards inside and a spring, which mine was missing. Since it would take the hands of a heart surgeon to even attempt to put the spring back in I decided for now to simply tape the card in place and just leave the connector loose until I get a new one.

It should just pick up the new media interface. My questions: does the card work? By that, I mean: if you plug it into your computer, do you see music or does it play music? Learning to move files from one device to another (i.e. sd card to computer)? Please follow this guideline on copy, move, paste. Yes, those USB ports do provide power and media.
If it were me: I'd keep the used, but working spring, device and start troubleshooting from there. Your original device (the one you put tape on) is toast. Quit troubleshooting that one. Put the new (used) one back in, with the working spring. Plug in a USB device that you know has music, and see if it works. If that works, then the new device works. Now you just have to troubleshoot the SD card slot.
My guess: your SD card is fried.
If all else fails, you could always pick up a
cheap multi-device USB stick cheap multi-device USB stick
, plug it in and call it a day.

Thanks for the tips. My original sd slot works as long as the card is taped in place. It was the used one that was toast. I went ahead and ordered a new connector just the same.

If not yet mentioned (no, I didn't read all that) is to do a typical computer fix, since the car is essentially one on wheels... reboot. Unhook the battery pos-cable a half-minute or so, clean the connectors and reattach. Of course, this assumes your car battery is topnotch. All kinds of crazy crappola occurs intermittently when they start going south. Good luck!
