Why ? Do you often forget where you live ?

Seriously though, if one lives in an area where roads are being changed often and/or where the area is being newly developed I can see the point.

But most built up areas don't see new roads added very often and what's the worst that would happen in them ? Your nav would send you a couple of blocks out of your way ?

Getting lost in an area you know isn't the problem most of us concern ourselves with. It's getting lost in the area you don't know that worries us. It's always at the worse time.

I have a 2019 GS built in 2018. I wonder what Map version/date is on there? I also completed an upgrade to IO6 when I did the Nav install. Not sure what Nav maps they installed to the IO6 module. I will check with MVI.

No way for me to definitively describe the improvements. We continue to travel in our Grand Sport. To name a couple, I have noticed some improvement in local roads and the revised I75/I280 intersection in Toledo.

I think it is worth the upgrade every couple of years.

Maybe the new update is 2 years old already! LOL! Thanks for your response.
You're not bugging anyone. Database currency is worse than you imagine... My house was one of the last ones built on our cul de sac, in 2015, meaning the road was in-place years before that. My car was built on 1 Aug 19. That implies the database can be as much as 5-6 years out of date.

LOL! Obviously, not, but my OCD did hate that I couldn't program my address as home. Perhaps the more relevant point is that my 5+ year old street's absence from the database indicates a LOT of (not so) "new" construction is likely absent.

That's a funny Honeymooners epidose - one of my favorites!

We've been driving with Corvette Nav systems over most of the US and Canada since 2006. Because of the way we use the car, I buy a new update every year. It's not common to find an area where the "map" is out of date, but it happens. Occasionally it will be years out of date. All the other factory Nav systems we've had in other cars are the same. If you want the latest maps, use Google Maps or Waze; if you want the HUD turn info and freedom from needing a data connection, use the factory Nav. Nothing is perfect.

The problem with the GM navigation system in your Corvette is that it does not show you traffic unless you subscribe to XM radio and then also subscribe to Navtraffic for an additional $3.99 per month

So after you pay your $99 update, you then have to pay for your XM radio subscription PLUS $48 per year for factory navigation with traffic.

Its free with Apple or Google maps.

USB stick, no disc player in a C7. Basically you put the drive in and it loads automatically. I think it takes 30-45 min.
