Default rear differential fluid change

Going to change rear diff oil on my 2019 Zo6 have 3 questions
1- should car be cold, warm or hot
2- Have a quick jack and can use bigger blocks in front lifting car with slight angle to rear, good or bad idea
3- Do I have to drive car and recheck fluid level if I get all 3 quarts in

Make sure you can loosen the fill plug before draining the fluid just in case U can't get the fill plug out. Your ideas seem logical. Good luck with it

Warm or hot. the fluid will be less viscus and drain more freely.

I wouldn't use blocks. It may upset the balance of the car on the quickjack.

Loosen the fill before the drain is REALLY good advice.

If the car is level, then no, you don't have to recheck. That said, it can't hurt, but once it runs out the fill hole, it's full...

Keep the car level, or when you go to fill it you will not be able to get all the fluid in.

As the others said, make sure you can get the fill plug out first. That drain plug is a PITA to get to!

As noted, if done on the level and filled as directed, it will be fine. Doing so, however, you may wish for a fleeting moment or two that you'd gotten the entry-level Stingray with nothing in the way of accessing the two plugs.

Just finished, not so bad with swivel head ratchet. What was bad was I only got 2 quarts out!!!!!! Thank You GM.
Replaced 2 3/4 quarts b/4 starting to weep out, will take it for a spin tomorrow and see if I can get any more in.
Think any damage was done to rear?car has 800 miles.

Drained my Grand Sport at about 1100 miles. Silvery, but not too bad. However, I got in 11 ounces more than I drained. Sure glad I changed it. Doubtful you have any damage with only 800 miles.

What am I missing? Why are you changing rear end fluid so soon? Is it a break- in thing? Am I screwed because I didn’t do mine with 6k on it?

Don't panic. Just do a swap and you'll be OK. It is a break-in thing. It's also a problem with many Corvettes that came from the factory with under-filled differentials. Some reports of numerous differentials coming 1 quart low from the factory.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Car was probably angled downhill (not level). Might try putting a long level against metal plate covering mid pipe exhaust next time. Course I’m assuming it is level to the differential/car!😜

My salesman recommended it. Not required but sure glad I did. Good piece of mind.

You're not missing anything. For some of us, it's a break-in thing. You're definitely not screwed - it's not required.

I'm somewhat old school so I, too, prefer to change-out break-in fluids. I did the engine at 500 miles, as required. I swapped the transmission and rear diff at 1500 miles because I wanted to.

Owners manual says to do it after the first track day. Not sure if you are tracking the car.

^^^
And I think they recommend changing diff fluid every 15 hours of track time after that first change.
Don't have the Manual with me now.

I have an appointment to get mine done right after Thanksgiving. Question that I have is should I just have them put in the GM spec or is there another brand that is better?

Most people I know just use the GM spec fluid.
That's what I did.
