I had the Callaway short shifter installed this past spring in my Callaway z and it is simply awesome. The stock shifter was good but this is just shifting Heaven. Rifle bolt load every time you shift just such satisfying feeling on every shift. Just have to try it. From everything I’ve read this one abs the mgw are very similar.

I'm glad to see you are enjoying your c7. Thats an amazing corvette too.

thanks for sharing,
Thank you for your kind words. I have owned since 1968, one Corvette from each generation, less the C-6. Restored to Top Flight, Bloomington Gold a 1963 Corvette Split, and sold that to buy the C-7, as I was that impressed with the C-7. I plan to keep mine and, as you stated, enjoy everyday of ownership. Agree, they will always be a new model year, and I like to look, but enjoying mine too much to want to make the change.

Regards

LOL... sounds a bit like me. I had sat in a C7 in the showroom but not driven it. And the last Corvette I had driven was a C3 back in the 1970s when my dad had some Navy pilots over for a poker game. They enticed me to go out on a cigarette run by throwing me the keys to the Vette. Yes, sir! I took the scenic route. :-)

Contrast to the OEM's visual pattern, I always thought the gates' distance from 3/4 to 5/6 was a bit closer than 5/6 to 7, thus taking a bit more getting used to upon initial purchase. Though I don't use 7th gear a lot, it was never an issue getting to 7th...at least for me. Can't speak for everyone.

As far as the topic is concerned, I think I'll hold on to my C7 for awhile.

They do seem closer. Really, 4 to 5 is okay in most cases, although at a redline shift, you are moving and I think it takes too long.

2-3 is really the biggest blocker for me sometimes. As in literally, it blocks the shift. Yes, people say adjust it, etc. But all other gates are mostly fine.

When I was driving 68 miles each way for work, 7th seemed far away. Seemed like too much effort for that shift. As always one's "mileage may vary" figuratively.

I will keep m C7 Grandsport regardless.
I agree! I'll keep my C7 GS/Z07 Corvette as well. The C8 is a very cool car and I'll probably get a C8 Z06/7, but to me it's not really a "Corvette".

If you can’t step on the clutch with your foot and move the shifter with your hand, then release the clutch with your foot, it ain’t for me regardless of what the trans is called. I love the art of shifting.

That's the only way to know for certain, before letting the clutch out.

I've driven the C8. Loved the drive, GT2 seats were very nice, stereo in the 3LT was killer and the acceleration was insane. But, I still need to relate to the Corvette driving experience by involving my left leg and right hand. For me, my GS M7 is just right. Been driving manual shift cars and trucks for 63 years. Just not ready to give it up in my fun car.

You "it-ain't-a-sports-car-unless-it's-standard-shift-bunch" are a hoot.....

Been rowing gears since 1955.... on the tree, on the floor....

Just went from MN7 '15 (97K+ miles) to a '19 A8 - don't miss the clutch at all.... I need third gear? Paddle, paddle, paddle.... ZOOM around the curves I go....

If I just HAVE to row gears the car on the left will let me do that....

A great illustration of how the Corvette is not a small car.

It's all relative. When I sold my 4th Gen Camaro and got the C7 I gained an extra foot and a half or so of space in my garage length wise. So in a way to me it is a small car. But width was about the same.
