Default Radio Volume

I've noticed on my 2019 Stingray that the radio volume is reduced significantly when I come to a stop. When I set the volume the way I like at cruising speed I can barely hear it when I come to a stop. I can find nothing in the owners manual, nor in the in car menu about this.

Is there any way to adjust this feature without turning the **** every time I come to a stop?

Speed-sensitive volume needs to be disabled. It's inside the setting menu.

It's not there. I would expect it to be under the RADIO settings, or maybe the VEHICLE settings. There is a "Maximum Startup Volume" is that it?
2019 may be different than some other model years.

Bose Audiopilot is the setting you are looking for:

It can also be adjusted as to amount of speed-based attenuation; not just an "on/off" proposition. Unfortunately, it's not as easy to adjust (but it's there somewhere, I've done so) as on my C5--just turning an obvious bezel.

The speed sensitive volume is called "Auto Volume". If you press the menu button (center of the small dial below the radio) you should be able to select this option and turn it off. It has several levels of control, including fully off.

In addition I would also turn off "Bose AudioPilot" as that feature detects background noise and attempts (but never succeeds) to cancel it out.

There is no "Auto Volume" anywhere in the menus, nor is it mentioned in the Infotainment System Guide. Prior MY's may have had it but it's not on my 2019.

It says that the "Bose AudioPilot" compensates for background noise and vehicle speed. It's either Off or On, there's no adjustability. So I've turned it off and I'll see what that does next time I have the car out (raining today).

Thanks for the inputs.

From my 2019 Manual:

Maximum Start Up Volume
This feature sets the maximum
startup volume. If the vehicle is
started and the volume is greater
than this level, the volume is
adjusted to this level.
To set the maximum startup volume,
touch + or − to increase or
decrease.

Sounds like they grouped two features into one setting and removed the levels... weird

Max Start Up Volume is a totally different thing - that only gets applied when the car is started. It is designed to keep the radio from blasting if you forgot to turn it down after your last drive.

You can access Auto Volume via the Audio Controls or Settings from the main screen:

To do so via Settings, select Settings:

Then select Radio and you should see selections for Auto Volume (which is what you are asking about) and Maximum Start Up Volume:

Select Auto Volume and scroll to see your options from Off to High:

Hope this helps.

KLG - what year and trim level is your car? Radio systems have changed at least 3 times over the C7 run.

2019 2LT GS does NOT have AUTO VOLUME. (Other years / 1LT trim may be different).

Settings / Radio menu:

Menu button in center of radio tuning button:

2019 with 1LZ, which has the base Bose radio system.

I guess Bose AudioPilot is the more sophisticated version of AutoVolume?

That is the theory:

"Bose AudioPilot Noise Compensation Technology, the feature detects ambient noise levels and analyzes vehicle speed to continuously monitor and adjust the audio volume. The end result is that your music or audio programming sounds the same at a set volume no matter how fast you’re traveling, or how much ambient noise is present in the vehicle due to speed, or other factors."

They are separate yet related. AudioPilot is (as described @Elk ) a noise canceling system. AutoVolume only adjusts loudness based on speed and many cars have this, so yes its less sophisticated. Regardless... turn both of these features off if you want the radio to act "normal".

My experience is AudioPilot is crippled by the crappy speakers, weak amplifier and Bose's non-defeatable bass shelf. The theory is great but the system just can't overcome the background noise in the C7 - it likely works better in a Caddy or quieter vehicle. My previous car, a Nissan 350Z, also had AudioPilot and it sucked there too. Bose is junk, this is a well know fact in car audio circles... turns out their headphone technology doesn't scale up very well

It surprises me the Bose system does not work better than it does. Their headphone noise suppression technology is class leading (the sound quality of the headphone audio is not the best, but the noise reduction itself is superb). Thus I expected more from their car system, but recognize cars are tricky sound environments.

The bose audiopilot option does nothing for the active noise cancelling within the car. Audiopilot just tries to improve the soundstage volume similar to the volume speed control of old. The sound will always be affected by the anc and the interior noise of the c7 is beyond what the system can handle. The mics are located on both doors and need to be disconnected manually.

Yes, the Bose system does not provide noise cancellation. But I expected the system to do at least a decent job controlling volume. It does not.

Why do you suggest disconnecting the measurement mics? One can simply turn the Bose system off, in my opinion the best option.
