GS stripes on a Z51 Stingray?
Good afternoon all! I have a 2017 Z51 Stingray (wish i had a GS but couldn't pass this one up). The Watkins Glen Gray has been a true favorite of mine. I'm thinking of adding a touch of color (RED) to it. I have the painted calipers. Not a fan of putting GS stripes on anything other than a GS - I'm kind of a purist in that sense. I've seen a few subtle stripes but wondered what others may have done. I saw somewhere that someone did a GS heritage stripe but only the outline - looked nice but can't seem to find it. Post your pics or ideas. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with putting the hashmarks on your car - I happen to think they look great even on a base car. Here is a pic of mine.

With GM now offering fender stripes on non Grand Sport C8 Stingrays, I think the “rule” that fender stripes are for Grand Sports only has been over-ruled by The General.
If you like how it looks do it. I added a C7-R inspired full length Shark Gray painted body stripe to my C7Z to match up with my Shark Gray vents and I’ve been running driver-side only fender hash marks on my C5 vert for years.
I like customizing and personalizing. Make ‘em your own!

I have mixed feelings on hash marks. They were not used on GM's racing machines and instead originated with Shelby Cobras to tell their cars apart as they approached the pit. Thus they do not belong on a Corvette.
They were later a GM marketing gimmick put on the 1996 Grand Sport, even though hash marks have nothing to do with GM (They were unnecessary; Grand Sports were normally raced by different teams, all wearing different colors. It was easy to tell the cars apart.) Then the marks started showing up on everything with any sort of sporting pretension. We now see them on Honda Civics.
But if you are going to add them to your car, make them bright/contrasting and visible. The purpose was to make the car easily distinguishable from its stablemate. And consider only one stripe, or put on three, so your car is actually recognizably different.

Melting Slicks
The full stripe was a factory option, but I don't know if the hash mark was, or if the PO added it. I like it.

If they can do it; you should be able to do it!

Hash marks make sense on a Mustang given hash marks originated with Shelby Cobras which have a shared racing history with Ford.

I stripe nothing, but if you like them, who cares what anyone else does or doesn't do?

As is oft observed, it is your car. Do what you enjoy.
