Default Has anyone change a manual trans to automatic?

I can buy a 17 Z06 for a nice price. I like everything but the fact that it is a manual trans.
Is it crazy to maybe switch it? Has anyone done this?
Cost?

Manuals are an endangered species, and we are not allowed to kill them.

The production numbers were higher on the auto I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding one. It took me 4-5 months to find a manual GS I liked in the configuration I wanted. Autos on the other hand were everywhere!

So much easier, and less expensive, to just find an A8 car. Surely there is one out there that has all your requirements.

A8's are higher in abundance than M7 right now. Much smarter to just buy a car with it. Just look for a Z with the Auto.

Easy swap! Just buy the car and you could probably change over to an automatic in about an hour in your garage! It's only like 3 bolts!

Tongue in cheek aside..............to repair my torque converter (not replace) takes 22 hours according to the service manual and cost me $4000.00. To convert to an auto would take real FU money...........

Better if you learn to drive a manual.

I would say that you have to determine how important having a manual is to you. There is a world of difference. Fortunately I'm I can swing both ways and have no preference. Whether it was a manual or auto wasn't even on my list of must haves. I have a hunch that is not your situation. If I were you I'd hold out for a manual. You'll have to live with your decision for a long time.

Purchase an A8 don't even think about changing it over. Too costly and the car's value will plummet once people realize it was converted and become suspicious of future reliability. It isn't like the old days of the 60s and 70s where all you had to do was purchase different brackets and hook up a vacuum line and a couple of cables to control the gear shifts.

Not practical at all. Just find an A8 car.

I'm just going to be frank here, only an idiot would purchase a M7 with the intent to change it to an A8. Finding a A8 to your likely should not be a problem.

I know how to drive a manual. I have had many before... I have a Z51 auto now and I was happy to stay with it but want to go to a Z06. Is there a general concept on the price if the rest of the car was the same? Z06 auto vs stick?
Thanks for the comments. It was my brothers idea to swap it. It seemed crazy to me.

Theoretically I reckon the M7 to A8 mod is doable, but practically it would make a nest of snakes look tame and cost a TON of money...
As recommended, if you really don't want the M7 wait for an A8 and do penance for spurning a "proper" C7...

The cost would be astronomical. As only 26% of all 6 years of C7 production were manuals, that means that 3 of every four built were automatics. In other words, finding a car with the color and options you want with an auto trans should be a slam dunk. And one heck of a lot cheaper than a swap.
