How many leave a/c on when you have top down or roof panel off? And does it hurt if you do?

If I'm too warm the a/c comes on, the same as for the heater if I'm too cool. I always lived in a family that had convertibles, so I learned from the get-go that nothing else mattered except if my mom was too hot or too cold, top up or down, windows up or down... nothing else mattered but her comfort (and, she really liked to leave the top down no matter what).

If temp below 70 I have the heat on HI and if above 80 I have the AC on LOW.... Between 55 and 95 I have the top down... I put it on Auto, then hit the foot and chest button...

Top down cruising no heat, no air conditioning, but do as you please no harm either way.

The whole point of the heating / air conditioning system in a car is to keep the occupants comfortable. Period. Top off, up or down is irrelevant.

If its warm out, turning on the AC should keep the radiator fans on and keep the coolant temps down.

On humid and hot days I put the top up. With it down and the ac on, too much condensation around the vents, the ac works longer because it never satisfies the set point (gas mileage) and there is a risk of icing up the evaporator.

It truly is a personal comfort thing with me, but on hot days with the top down I usually use A/C but have only the lower footwell vents selected. With my wife along I am with Avanti in Post #2, nothing else matters except her comfort or I might as well stay home.

I put the A/C on with the floor vents and turn on the seat fans.

Depends on the outside temp. Really hot day, A/C comes on. Moderate temps (80 & below), no need for A/C.

Off. If it’s that hot outside, I put the top back up and then put the A/C on.

If you have ventilated seats they will work better with the AC on in the footwells at least. I run the HVAC all the time set at 72 whether it's hot or cold, top on or off. It doesn't hurt anything and I've never seen any condensation anywhere in my 2019 Z. That said, I don't set it to "auto" when the top is off since it will blast the AC when it's hot out.

I do not understand the basis of this question. Are you anticipating damage to the AC / heat system?

Is there a setting other than AUTO? lol.. (yes, I know how it works, I've used them.) But, the car gets REALLY hot if the system is off. The exhaust running two inches from your legs can do that..
I leave the system in auto. And I hardly ever take the top off, (golf bats are always back there.)
