AS 3+ run flat vs non-run flat
I will be purchasing new Michelin AS 3+ tires. Should I go with the run flats or non run flats. I heard the non run flats ride better but will the run flats handle better with the stiffer side walls.

That is a question I have as well. When my OEM Michelins wear out, I'll very likely be installing the AS 3+. We have many days, especially mornings, below 40 degrees that are clear. I am not disappointed in the ride quality of the Michelin OEMs, so I'm leaning toward the run flat AS 3+, for piece of mind (no spare).

Bought the ZP run-flats about 5 months ago. I really like them, ... plus like the security if I need the run-flats

I swapped out my OEM runflats with the Michelin A/S 3+ runflats last September. No regrets. They ride well, low road noise and offer the runflats security.

If you use the car for just for local driving then non-runflats are a reasonable choice, though their advantages over runflats are small.
If you use the car for trips, or anywhere a flat would cause serious problems, then I recommend runflats.
In 20 yrs/250k miles of driving modern Corvettes, we've only had one flat. With the runflats, it was a minor inconvenience. Without runflats, it would have been a major problem.

Can't remember the last time I had a flat tire. I also don't want to invite an opportunity for a memorable experience with a flat tire. I went with the AS3 + run flats.

I had several flats on my 15z. I wouldn't even consider non runflats. I track my car a lot and have never bent a wheel so I'm not sure why I've been so lucky in the flat department. I took the pss's off my 19 when it came in and put my wheels with the as3's on. They are a much better street tire in my opinion.

The car's suspension was designed for run flats. If you want the most out of the car, run the ZP tires. If you are trying to save a few bucks run non ZP.
I will always run ZP and it has literally zero to do with not having a spare.

My 2016 Stingray has had 5 flats in its 130,000 miles. Only two of them could have been repaired on the roadside with a patch kit. I had to drive 87 miles to the nearest town on one occasion. I have tested the non runflat version for my manager friend at Discount Tire. Could not tell the difference in noise and feel between the two versions.
I'll stay with run flats on my Z06. Not sure yet if I will stay with stock tires though when I wear my first set out. May go with the All season version, but I sure like cornering at 1.2 Gs! I don't think the all seasons will do that.

If you are worried about bending/breaking a wheel (like most GS/Z06/ZR1 people), just think what a potential flat that loses air completely is gonna do to the rim.

This has been debated and debated and debated. If you don’t mind the risk go with non run flats. There are too many people that say the difference between the two aren’t that much pertaining to noise and ride with the newer tires. This is a picture of why I would never go without ZPs. I don’t like the risk.

The Michelin ZPs have only have one reinforced sidewall on the inside of the tire. The outside sidewall is the same as a non ZP tire. Forget what you knew about the older GY EMTs. Different tire designed for a different scenario. The Michelins ride softer and handle as good as any other street tire in their group.

I’ve had the run flats for a year on my Z with Z07 suspension. I’ve been very happy with the ride. I’d hate to get an actual flat in this car as it’s already very low.

Just bought a set of Pilot Sport run flats. They were a little higher priced than the non RF, but I got to thinking about what a hassle it would be to have a blowout about 30 miles from Spearfish, SD, Effingham IL, or Bowling Green on an event weekend. Peace of mind is why I bought them, kind of like insurance, a home alarm system, etc....

Go with the run flats. There's no good reason not to do so, in my view - unless you are tracking your car. The AS3+ are excellent tires for everyday use.

Love the A/S 3+ ZP tires. I came from the stock ZP tires on base car in 18-19 size and went up to the A/S tires in 19/20 and they ride better and are quieter than the original ZPs.

Just put a set of Michelin A/S 3+ run flats on yesterday. Can not believe how quiet and comfortable the ride is now. I went with the ZP for the piece of mind.
