UPDATE:

They tried to flash the system but nothing worked. Checked everything and determined the car is working 100% mechanically with no problems. The Corvette Tech at my dealership said they have had C7 gauge clusters fry out like this. They ordered the new gauge cluster and I'm having it installed next Monday morning. About $1000 total parts and labor.

Just a good heads up for anyone else who may develop this problem. I suppose it's just the price to pay for having a lot of tech in the car. Like anything, all parts are prone to failure.

I will keep you guys updated next week on how it goes and the final outcome, but thank you again to everyone who has had some advice in this thread.

Yeah, I don't see a future where people restore 50 year old C7s....

$1000 to replace a $1 part?

Anyways, for future reference others can listen to my vast wisdom and try to do the fix themselves or send it in, either way much cheaper...

Guess you missed the part where his digital gauges weren't reading either.

Ok add another $5-20 part. and who knows if its not tied into those same circuits.

Point is the same, cheaper to send in a gauge cluster then a car (especially a Dealer) lol. All I'm saying is it save my bacon and other that run into it might look at other option. Other options are what these forums are all about.... that and passing the time BSing.

You have no idea how this cluster is works.

The main board isn't a "$5-20 part", and you can't buy it separately anyway. It's a full blown computer inside there. If you know of someone repairing these things at all, let alone for anything under $500, please do the community a favor and let us know.

That's why I said I sent mine in. I haven't soldier since the 80s 😥

If your covered by warranty then no big deal but if not look around. There are people and places that do work on these.

UPDATE:

Still waiting on the part to come in.

I did have a question for you guys.

I was thinking, do you guys think if I take all the trim pieces apart, and just drive the car there with only the gauge cluster bolts needing to be taken out, the dealership would mind? Like if I do most the work then just put it back together when I get it home?? I mean the car is not under warranty so it's not warranty related work.

Let me know what you think.

The dealer will probably charge the same since they use the flat rate book.
Doubt that they would want the responsibility of
just r&r the display. If it didn’t work, they would
most likely claim they didn’t do the whole job.

Spoke with dealer. Since the car is not under warranty anymore and they are only swapping out the gauge cluster and programming it, I am allowed to pre-remove all the trim pieces beforehand and it takes off $232 off the service. I will be doing that. Should make for an interesting drive there and back home.

Good to know info. Wonder if all dealers would do that?

Taking the car apart Sunday, and bringing it in on Monday. I'll keep you all posted and document the process. I'm ready:

UPDATE: I'm all set for tomorrow's appointment. I got everything apart this morning and there are only 4 bolts holding the gauge cluster in. It shouldn't take them long at all to swap and program it. I'm sure I'll look funny driving to and from the dealership like this.
