Default C5 to a C7....would you do it again?

I currently have an '03 coupe. 51k on the clock. Needs absolutely nothing, well except weatherstripping, but living in Florida I never use the top anyhow so....

So I have a line on a 2014 Z51 Stingray with, 2935 miles on it. NO, that's not a typo 2935. Limited Production Premiere Edition - #445 of 500 produced, 3LT Equipment Package. And I'm thinking about making the jump.

For those who have gone from a C5 to a C7, would you do it again? Why? Or, why not?

Thanks,
Steve

Traded my custom C5 vert for a 14 C7 and love it. Drive one and you will see a major difference. C5 was a great car even with 107k miles. The additional 100 hp is amazing and can be a little scary.

Go drive a C7......you will have ALL your answers within the first 25 miles.

This is coming from someone that owned two C5's, C6 and now C7; love the older cars for what they are but when it comes to road trips, back roads or just going to get gas.....hands down the newer iron wins out every time!

I have a 2014 C7 with 4150 miles. I have owned C5, C6 and C7. I have really loved them all. Have driven every generation before those extensively also. The one thing I think that is apparent, putting all styling issues and preferences aside, is that each generation gets better than the one it replaces. I don’t think many could argue with that point, though I am sure some would try. I have not driven a C8 yet, but I have no doubt it will blow away the c7 in refinement. So yes, I think moving into a C7 would be a very good thing from a C5. And the 14’s are really good in terms of reliability, especially if it’s an auto as it had the near bulletproof A6, while not being quite as fast a shifter as the 8, it lacks the issues that the A8’s have had

Went from a C5 to a C6 to a C7 (twice). Each generation was a step up. You will not regret going from your C5 to the C7. The interior alone will be light years ahead of the C5 especially the limited edition 14. Still have a soft spot though for my first Vette, 2004 CE coupe.

Thanks all. I'm probably going to pull the trigger on it. No it's not an auto, a M7. My personal preference is a standard.

I "assume" they did away with the stupid 1-4 shift thing the C5's had. I had it tuned out but.....

I had an 06 and drove it all year here in Chicagoland.
Yes I really like my new 2019 G S better in the way it handles and looks.
So go ahead and get one & enjoy it.

I went C5 to C6 and then to C7. I ran the C5 and C6 to over 100k miles each and loved them both. I had the C7 for 10 months and put 22k mikes on it and sold it. I just did not warm up to the styling and found the seats to be very uncomfortable and preferred the instrumentation of the C6.

I traded my 2001 convertible for a 17 GS convertible.
The technology is so much more advanced in the GS.
The interior room of the GS is something you need to familiarize yourself with, it is a bit smaller.
I don't miss my C5 at all.

Nope the skip shift is still there but easily fixable.

I too have a Premier Edition (#380) My has 33K and has only very minor issues. With that mileage your pretty much buying a new car so I would expect zero problems.

Hi calvins, I hope all is well I remember you from my posting time in the C5 forum. I went from a base 04 to a 17 GS 3lt. I agree with take one for a ride just be careful. I stood out side one with the drivers door opened and It pulled me in and after driving won't let me out !! I made it out and ordered one ! To me it seems leg room is a little smaller and storage compartments in cargo area are less capacity. The ride, power and features make this C7 amazing. My 04 didn't have the ride control I love being able to adjust ride and exhaust with the turning of a dial.I loved my 04 and the hardest part of doing deal was letting my 04 go ! Good luck on your decision ! Dave

Thank you all. A '14 with 2935 miles - I just can't say no to it. Going up and pick it up Thursday morning.

Went from a 2004 Z06 to a 2019 Grand Sport and I was VERY pleased. I would do it again, and again and again....you get my point. Love my C7 Grand Sport. And the 2004 Z was a nice vette. They just stepped it up quite a bit.

Not a GS - outta my price point. But if it's what they say it is, I think I'll be "ok" with it. Thanks

CAGS is still there, but I found it less irritating on the C7. I still installed a skip-shift eliminator, just like the C5. I think the same eliminator can be used on C5 thru C7. So if you have one on your current car, you could transfer it over.

Grrrr..... I had it taken off of the C5 by a shop with a tuner....
