Default Guess I'm the first one

Starting a new club , backed out of garage with charger still attached ! Either im the first or no one else wants to admit it . Anyway after running over the charger in the driveway after dragging it out of the garage it pulled the charger port out of the panel in the hatch are and it doesnt seem to want to snap back in . Question is how do i go about taking out the panel in question ? Can anyone direct me to a video ? or at least some instructions ? Thanks in advance

I'm sure you're not the first. I haven't done that yet but I recognize that I am 100% capable of doing it,
So, I store my battery tender in a black vinyl bag hanging on the wall in the garage. When I take it out of the bag and hook it up I hang the bag over the gear shift.
Sorry I don't have the info you asked for. Hopefully someone with a service manual can post up the relevant pages for you.
Hey, It could always be worse.

Yeah, I’d say someone else has done the same thing. I would think the panel snaps in place with some clips, but someone that has a repair manual handy will hopefully confirm that.

To stay out of that club, I put a two-sided laminated 8.5 x 11 piece of paper on each of the chargers. When the charger is on, the sign goes on the windshield and held by a wiper blade.

Best practice is not to let the car sit long enough that you need to hook up a charger!

I bought the extension wire adapter and route the wire out the drivers window so I have to disconnect it to before getting inside, just a thought.

I backed up about 2' one day with the charger attached. Luckily not enough to do any damage. Since then, I employed the method above with a reminder on the windshield and have never come close to backing up with the charger attached since.

I've never actually backed out with the charger still connected, but did start the engine once.
The backing out was prevented because I route the thick charger cord into the trunk and lay the trunk lid gently down onto the wire, with a microfiber cloth underneath to prevent rubbing on the rear spoiler/bumper.
When I started the car, I got a bunch of chimes and a dash message that said "trunk ajar" and the car diagram showing the trunk open. Pretty hard to miss that. Fortunately...

Lots of good stuff in the Sticky Threads at the top of C7 General.

Maybe a couple of safety orange "remove before flight" hangers in strategic places when the charger is in place.

Or you can purchase a set of these magnetic electrical connectors and wire it to the outside of your car in the grill area.

Your smart charger can be adapted to one end of the connector and the other end is wired to the underhood fuse box. If you forget to unplug the charger, no problem and no damage as the two connectors just pull apart without damage. Do a search for Mag Code connectors on eBay. These are made in Europe and aren't cheap but definitely worth it.

Cant help with your power plug... but for me...and my experience here.. we all can be forgetful.. flying roof syndrome etc.. IN this case... I run the extension cord through my drivers side window.. I cant get in the car without removing the cord.. I leave the charger in the trunk. No way I can drive out of the garage without removing the cord

I once washed my car (not a corvette) and had the back passenger door opened because I just finished cleaning the back seat. Well I pulled into the garage with the door still ajar..it all worked out I sold the car about 2 months later and told the person buying...I will either fix it or take 500 off...he took the 500 off
