A salvage title would make it tough to value...a scrape down the side would not total a newer model Corvette....If you could verify the actual damage, that would help

"Experts" that sell them would claim it's worth 20% less than a clean title vehicle. Try to trade it in at a dealer and IF they even want it, they'll give you 50%.

when I traded a branded title (theft recovery) porsche on a new z06 i "had" to have, this is how it played out at the dealership. I had to wait until they had my Porsche sold to another dealer until they would close the deal with me on the Z06. And the chapped *** I had from loss from purchase price of the Porsche was a painful enough reminder to say "never again" for anything but a clean title purchase. YMMV

If you can buy it cheap enough and plan on keeping it forever then it probably does not matter. You will not be able to trade it in at any dealership and selling it privately will be really tough unless you give it away. As others have said, I would buy it for 50 cents on the dollar of the same exact car with a clean title and history.

30k might be high. With 40k miles you're not too far away from a non-salvage title on the same car ($38k). I give it the 1/2 price deal (which is how I came up with $19k to start), but honestly I'd probably go low 20's if I was looking for a longer car and didn't care about resale.

Salvage cars can be great under the right conditions, but use the salvage to your advantage!!! Offer them a deal and walk if they don't take it. Now is a GREAT time to be a buyer...

$30K does seem high for a salvage title vehicle. Low 20's is what I feel the value should be.

If you check KBB private party sale data which is exactly what I would use as a benchmark for a car with a clean title, history and good condition the value is $31 - $34k. Again, this is a car with a clean title and in good condition. Factor in a repair and a salvage title? Again, I would also be looking at $17 - $22K max if you really want it, plan on keeping it a long time and you are positive there is nothing at all wrong with it.

You really need to have any vehicle with a salvage title thoroughly inspected to make sure there was no serious damage to the car. Every salvage car seller is going to tell you that the vehicle was hit by a stray shopping cart and just needed some paint and a buff....

These "body shop specials" should go a lot lower than US$30k. I agree that US$20k is closer to what's considered reasonable if you plan to keep it.

No way, no how I'd go $30K on a salvage title with 40K on the clock. With the Covid thing going on, take your $30 K to a dealer with a clean carfax 2014 or maybe a 2014 with a minor accident and see how close they'll get to your offer. I'm betting the difference will be less than 10%, i.e less than $3K.

Get the VIN# and google it, if it was auctioned off you could get a hit with decent pictures of the actual damage.

I just asked KBB for instant cash offers. 2014 Stingray coupe torch red 3LT auto 36k miles. Best offer $25k!!! They said carfax showed 2 accidents which I was told when I bought the car but they must have been small. My C5 had fibreglass damage from a mishap and it didn't affect the car. This car drives great.
