Default Need Forum advice, looking at a new "19 GS

Hello Forum Brothers,

Current driving a 2008 C6 Coupe that I bought new in 2008. So, I've been out of the Corvette buying world for about 12 years. I've seen some good deals pop up recently on leftover '19 Grand Sports, and this has peaked my interest in buying a new C7. Really not interested in buying the first year or two of the new C8 generation. Besides, I really like the look and stance of the C7 Grand Sport.

Could you tell me what to look out for and any issues that may have come up with the C7 generation? I've heard some stories about wheels cracking and bending? And a transmission shutter or warble, etc.?

Any advice and information would greatly be appreciated.

Best to all! John

In order to avoid all issues specific and non specific to the GS (wide body) get a 1 or 2LT (3LT dash peeling), a manual trans (A8 issues) and budget for a set of aftermarket wheels (wide body wheel issues).

Depending on where you drive and how much you drive any of the above issues could actually be non-issues. My particular car is a 3LT (not a GS) and is subject to the dash peeling issue. I am fine with that and will simply deal with it if and when it crops up.

Get a 2LT definitely. An auto is fine, basically more fine the later model year a particular car is. Think they did something about it at the factory level starting late 2018 but definitely 2019. Now is a good time to buy as you can bargain quite hard. Car sales are down quite a bit lately, this works in your favor. Be sure to look out for the dumb extra **** they tack on there and refuse to pay for any of it. These things are cheap now.

Thanks for the information. Should have mentioned I'm interested in a 2LT with the automatic transmission. The Vette would be used as weekend driver, etc. Not going to the track.

If you can find a ‘19 that is set up just like you want, then yes, it is a good time to make a purchase. Best of luck - you will really enjoy the car.

I was just looking at MacMulkin. They have Grand Sport 2LT Autos for a 19% discount. Pretty good if you can find the colors you want.

I got my 19 from MacMulkin in December. The 2LT GS is what I chose. The 1LT didn't have what I wanted, and for what I saw that the 3LT offered, I felt it wasn't worth the extra $$. With the 2LT, you'll probably want add the Performance Data Recorder, which also gives you Navigation. Mark is the sales guy I dealt with, and he made the whole experience painless.

I just purchased mine from MacMulkin yesterday from Mark. As others have said, painless experience, great people to work with. I chose the 1LT GS. I had a 2LT before and, for me, the extra expense for those option wasn't necessary this time around. I decided to use the extra savings to buy some Forgeline wheels instead. Can't go wrong with whatever you choose.

Surburban99, If you are already a Corvette guy you will loves this car. I have always been a P-car guy. Coached a couple of guys in GS's and Z06 at the Glen. I was impressed with the performance of the C7(best of the best) You can't buy a better sports car for the money! And Now!! Even better deal. I just bought my C7 GS M7 2LT in December. 22% off and I thought that was a great deal. But there are wonderful cars out there right now for super deals. Go find your C7 GS. Don't be afraid to get up and walk out a couple of times. Buyers market.

Best of luck with the purchase!!
