How do I clean and protect the gray microfiber seat inserts in my Grand Sport??
Hi, I have a Grand Sport with light gray leather interior and light gray sueded microfiber seat inserts? Can anyone advise me on how and what to use to keep it clean and protected (especially the sueded microfiber inserts in case of a spill or something)???
Thanks,
Mack

I just use a damp microfiber cloth. My car has the black suede and it looks great. I have a Cobalt SS with the black suede as well and after 12 years, it still looks brand new. However, the Cobalts also were available with a light gray suede as well and I have yet to see one that didn't end up looking dirty after it got some miles on it. Good luck!

Use a good, not the cheap ones that shed, microfiber towel dampened with warm water and some mild detergent, and rub the surface. Rinse, repeat and follow with a dry microfiber towel. Allow to dry.

Sounds great thanks! Besides the throw over seat covers I've tried to use but keep sliding all over the place, is there any thing like Scotchgard that I might be able to use?

Use this monthly and your alcantara will feel as new again. Comes with a handy scrub which will rejuvenate the matted down fibers.

Our interior is black, the black suede seat inserts still look like new at 3 yrs/30k miles.
Usually I just vacuum them, occasionally use a damp black terrycloth towel to wipe down.
OTOH, our steering wheel and gear selector are a dark gray and showing some wear.

Thanks all!! Not trying to beat this thread to death........ but just want to make sure of something. The GM window sticker for my car says "Sueded Microfiber Seat Inserts and a Sueded Microfiber Wrapped Steering Wheel". Would these be considered the same as Alcantara???

Yes. Very similar. Different companies use different names for the same or similar thing. Google Alcantara and suede micro fiber.

I had white alcantara inserts in my previous Audi. Sonax works well.
The most important thing is clothing. A new pair of dark jeans can bleed color on a hot sweaty day. This happened to me with a passenger. I always washed and heat dried my new jeans twice and didn't have a problem.

Make sure if you use the Sonax you do the entire seat not just areas. I heard if you just do a section or a certain spot that when it dries you can tell the difference where you cleaned and didn't clean.

My MF seat inserts (Brownstone) look new after 117,000 miles. The suede trim not so much.
They are two different materials, with the seat inserts more fabric-like and don't seem to need anything more than damp cloth brush over. The trim is much more like an actual suede and they mat where any hands/elbows/arms rest. Kind of a disappointment, because if they had used the same fabric as the seat inserts for the trim areas, the the car would look amazing even after all this time and milage.
