Default Parking button peeling

Anyone else have the “chrome” trim and the end of the parking brake release button peel up on them? Mine is and it’s kind of annoying. Wonder if it would look ok if I just peeled it all off

Haven't had that happen to mine, but then again I seldom use it. Hard to say what it would look like with the brushed aluminum trim piece missing. Not sure I would like the look with the brushed aluminim finish removed.

I use my parking brake every time I shut off the car. With a manual it’s the only way to activate the memory seats on a restart. Button still looks brand new.

Same problem on mine. 2019 A8 with 13295 miles. In storage now until mid March 2020 will take into dealer and have them fix it then. Very sharp edge.

FYI, these run ~$40 if anyone wants to just replace it themselves.

Same here, my car is a 2018 with under 5k on the clock. Not a big deal obviously, although it is something that remindes me every time touch it & pull the brake that iam in a chevy. Much of life is all about compromise isn't it?

Must be a substandard part on the later years. My '14 looks like new. 115,000 miles.

Don't chalk this up to a GM quality issue too much. The start button on my previous S5 did the same thing. It actually cut my finger to the point I was bleeding.

It may be.

It is also possible it is a result of the body chemistry of the owner, technique, etc.

Little weird things happen. This does not make it any less annoying however.

Oh yeah, ive seen it happen on bmw audi and jaguar start buttons although those examples were older cars with much higher miles and quite a bit older than 1 year like my c7

maybe they decided to fix the armrest wrinkle thing and decided to drop the ball on the plastic brake button?? haha! i dunno or care really. just thought id post since my situation applies to the question.
