Did the OP ever say where he is located and the location of the car he bought? Winter means different things, depending on where you reside and where you are traveling to.

I’m purchasing my fifth C7 which will be a lightly used Z06. Everything is done and my original plan was to take my truck and rent a U-Haul trailer to take my trade up and bring the Z back. Trip is about 7 hours there and back in winter conditions.
I went to get a trailer this morning and they did not have it there even though I was told last night it was available. Went to another location and they had one but it was full of rust and corrosion and I did not feel safe pulling it.
After 2 weeks of waiting for the roads to clear up and making arrangements to get my car, I’m getting fed up. I have already given the dealer a $2k deposit and I’m not sure if they’ll refund it back to me. Is it too much to ask the dealer to cover 50% shipping cost which is roughly $600? Or should I just cover it myself and get the damn car? This whole ordeal is stressing me out!

Ya'll want me to drive my Z06 in this? Now that I think about it, even a dinky U-Haul trailer would be unsafe to pull these conditions, no?
I called the dealer and asked if they would offer to pay half for shipping and got the usual response on how they're not making any money off of my deal. Made arrangements to have a driver take my AMG up there on Saturday and bring the Z back. Very excited.

When making your purchase you have to put delivery into the deal. I buy cars all over the country, I just make sure they are delivering it to my door, and that's put in writting along with the car will be perfect or I will reject the car, never had a dealership not do this for me, and it's always delivered in an enclosed trailer.

Why obsess over the cost of transport when you are willing to pony up significant bucks to get the car you want? This is a minor wrinkle in your procurement process.
Hassle factor needs to be considered --- solution: find and select a reliable transporter to bring the car to you, and your problem (and all of your concerns) becomes a thing of the past.

BTW, with my recent transport with a U-haul......I just happened to time it just right so the weather was perfect on the return trip. Roads were clear and dry and the sun was out for the entire trip back. The Corvette was nearly perfect when I offloaded it from the trailer. It was around $150 for the trailer for 2 days and I didn’t overnight with the Corvette on the trailer. I went up in the afternoon/evening with my trade-in on the trailer, stayed in a Marriott for $85 and I started back first thing the next morning. Would an enclosed trailer be better? Sure, but I was very satisfied with how it all played out.
Maybe watch the weather and plan the pick-up for a decent stretch of weather?

Definitely. The sales person and I were talking about the whole situation and it was fairly clear that my windows of opportunity were quickly disappearing. The good thing about my situation is that these circumstances helped me significantly. I got a great deal because nobody up north wanted this car this time of year. They had taken it to auction just two weeks before I bought it and nobody would buy it.

He's in CANADA. Half the options you guys list aren't even available there. Now would be a good time to contact your local Corvette club. Explain your situation and see if they have any options. I can guarantee they have guys with enclosed car trailers. Offer a generous amount and ride with them. Who knows ? You might make a good friend.

Edit- Yeah that weather sucks once you get up a couple thousand feet. You're right getting it trailered.
