Last weekend my car was vandalized, It’s not horrible but nonetheless it did happen, My car is black and it’s hard to show the damage in photos so no pics sorry.
the damage: all along the rear hatch area it appears someone took something not very sharp ( hard to say what they used) and scribbled all over slightly etching the paint , this will buff out as they say but it’s going to take a lot of work.
I was at a local shopping center/ mall ...parked as far from activity as possible but it was very busy and was still parked next to other cars , I was on the end of a row.
so someone definitely went out of their way to do this .
C7”s definitely attract attention mostly good but sometimes I think our cars bring out jealousy ? in other people. That’s really the only reason I can come up with why someone would do this to my car .
How many others have had senseless vandalism done to their car ?
Not in my C7 yet, but I parked my C5 in BFE at a Lowe's for 15 minutes...only to come out looking at a long cart and cement dust on the front of my bumper. When I cleaned the dust off I had a large scuff on the front bumper, the same height as the cart, so I am sure someone launched that sucker from a distance to see if they could hit my Vette. Took me a lot of work to buff that mark out, but it came out.
Seems like you are better off parking in the mix of the general public on most occasions nowadays. I always try to find a spot next to a curb on the passenger side and hug the curb without touching it. That way I narrow my chances for a door ding as not everyone has a passenger getting out.
C4, several times back in college, by people I had never even met. I think they were just jealous or hateful people. I had forgotten to lock the doors one night and a few CDs got stolen, they couldn't get the radio out. One night after a hard rainstorm I heard a crack outside my apartment but thought it was just the storm, eventually got up and peeked out the window and a guy was tearing my license plate off. I grabbed a 7-iron and ran out there and he was gone, I found that he picked up a charcoal grill and chucked it through the windshield, then tried to smash the rear glass with the lid of the grill. Ran all around the complex and found no one outside, called the cops and he saw the 7-iron in my hands and said "well we'll keep a look out".
Another time I was getting ready for school and heard a loud rapping on my door, the apartment maintenance guy pointed me to the car which was on blocks. They stole all 4 wheels.
Now of course they're in a locked garage and I work on a military base so I don't worry too much. But yeah, should I see someone messing with my cars I will shoot first and ask questions later. I might maim them first then use a baseball bat just to make them suffer.

I Actually witnessed a smash and grab about a year ago in the same place almost in the same spot I was parked ..... Then i tracked down a security guard and they basically do nothing about it nor do they have any video cameras set up in the garage that he knew of .

I had bought a new yellow 1996 Corvette. I went into a grocery store to drop off film to be developed. Was in the store 5 mins came out to find a shopping cart launched into the drivers door on my one month old Corvette. I had to have the door repainted and they had a very hard time matching it.
Not with my Vette, but with my previous car (370Z) I went to Home Depot for a few minutes to look for something and came out to find a small dent in the front driver's fender. Luckily $150 at a dent doctor place made it look like it never happened.
I had an SUV in a parking lot once...i was in it with the motor running waiting for the wife and kids to come out when another vehicle pulled up beside me and whacked the **** out of the passenger side of my vehicle with their door. People have no respect for other people's property anymore.
So far so good with all my Vettes. But, it is a nightmare I live with every time I park the Vette for an extended period. When i return to the car I check it over, with my heart in my mouth. I just can't understand why someone would do this.

Sorry to hear. Agreed jealousy is evil. Nothing has been done to my C7. However someone put a nice 12” key mark in my drivers side rear door on my 17 Raptor. I also don’t usually park away from other cars and treat them normal.
This past August after leaving Carlisle had a stop over in NOVA area...Parked in the hotel parking lot and during the period of moving stuff into hotel witnessed a female (late 20’s to early 30’s) open her car into my 14 C7...Called her out for it and the situation escalated to the point LE had to be called...Whole incident was captured on the cars video.... Next morning I came outside to this.....
Luckily there was no permanent damage....Thanks to the ceramic coating....
