There may be some confusion in posts 10, 13, and 21 about octane booster claims. True, some of the harmless ones that are just toluene, ethanol, or some such compound without harmful engine effects don’t boost octane by much. They claim a few points of octane improvement, but when you read the fine print, a point is defined as a tenth of an octane. So a small can of those indeed only boosts octane by a few tenths of a number. But a small can of the ones based on MMT or aniline does raise octane of a whole tank of gas by a few full octane numbers. Trouble is, as discussed in other posts, the MMT and aniline based products carry serious engine and/or cat risks.

Appreciate all the replies. I have 87 in the tank right now, well actually its half 87 as I still still had half a tank. Will see how it goes. By the time this Hurricane passes I'll have wished I put fuel stabilizer in there!
