Default New GS 2 miles...won't start

Wasn't sure if I should stay with my last thread...UPS lost my packet with all docs and check for 8 days. Then wait for check to clear. Then couldn't go pick up car because the person handling the courtesy delivery was not available over the weekend. Monday either, their day off. Set for Tuesday then. My car has been at the dealership for almost 2 weeks, waiting for me to pick up. Got a call a few minutes ago. They went to prepare my car...and it is dead. Wont start at all. No lights, nothing. They checked the obvious. Starter, battery etc. All Ok. They did diagnostics...kept getting codes that didn't make sense about brakes etc....but they said the car hasn't even been driven yet. It has 2 miles on it! So they had to put it in neutral and push it in to a bay. The techs are apparently scratching their collective heads. No one has a clue what is going on. They are going to try to order and replace the BCM module. HOPING that will do the trick. If not they will have to troubleshoot further.

As I have said... I am Murphy's Law walking. The guy that is going to do my Xpel is patiently waiting...He said lets make an appointment. I said...not yet. I have a feeling I wont be getting the car. And if there is a paint problem or something that they have to correct.....I just have a feeling....little did I imagine. Between one thing and another...lost paperwork, mechanical problems then Xpel etc....I may not have my new car for 3 or 4 weeks! Sigh...….

Update:

I've been insanely busy. My mother has been in and out of the hospital. Hospital is 1.5 hours away in CA traffic from hell. So I try to make one of those trips (I went twice a day) around midnight after I get out of work to avoid traffic. All of her doctor's appointment for her Keytruda infusion and care are in same area so same commute for those.

Manager at work quit. Most of that person's work has fallen upon me. Most of my day, when I'm not at work, is spent doing the above or cleaning her or cleaning the apartment or some mess. Last night I was up until 4 a.m. doing just that.

For those who have taken care of a sick parent with dementia, you can understand that this is overwhelming. I'm trying to hold down a full-time job and pay/coordinate caregivers that are very expensive and trying to balance it all. And I have a sick cat. Vet trips. Well I'm telling you it's stressful and tiring to say the least.

Add to that, trying to field calls, communications emails with GM courtesy dealer etc...its been unreal. Courtesy dealer has been in touch with me every few days. They are the ones that have gone to bat for me. It is my understanding that GM stepped into and said, figure this out, to the responsible parties.

Then I got the call. That they are indeed going to do something. In the midst right now of figuring out what that is going to be. Seeing as my first choice might not be possible. I should have more information about what this next week. They are exploring what options are available. I'll let you all know what that is, when it is takes place.

Let me be very clear. No one has told me not to say anything. Nobody has told me to "cease and desist". There's no pressure being put on me from anyone.... except for a few members of this forum that see fit to make assumptions about my character in regards to my gender or in relation to handling a problem. Or my marriage and my relationship with my husband. And what he is "telling" me to do. It's just ridiculous. Well all I can say is, I'm very glad I'm not married to THEM... if that's the way they think . Sorry, but you deserved that.

I mean, if I come here to read something ….it's such chaos. And I really don't need any more on my plate than I already have. I figured I might as well wait till I had something concrete to report. So if everybody could just take a moment and breathe…

So far GM executive Resolution Team has been great. My courtesy dealer has been more than great. And those two parties have been in continual communication with me with updates. And let me reiterate that the courtesy dealer gets nothing out of this whole transaction except the courtesy delivery fee. So they have been exceptional

Let me take a moment to thank those of you that have been very helpful. A few of you have written emails or made calls on my behalf, which I'm very sure, have helped the process. Also those that verified with selling dealer that this situation is real. For those of you who have gotten in touch with me with such great info,suggestions...AND support...THANK YOU! You have no idea what a difference you have made!

I would give them a few days to try and diagnose what is wrong. If they can't figure it out, perhaps it would be time to ask for a different car if they have one in stock that pretty much matches the car having the problems.

They will figure it out.
No starts are pretty easy as far as car problems go.

I sure hope so! What had me worried was, they said they haven't a clue. And they are just going to start replacing parts one by on until they get it to start. So it didn't sound easy to me LOL. They said that this has never happened before....on a brand new car.

Well I can assure you it has happened before, but they cant really come out and say "hey new cars are broken all the time".
Saying they haven't a clue just means they haven't figured it out yet. Its not really a big deal. Many different things can cause a no start. Frankly, its probably something stupid like a loose battery cable.

Electrical issues take the best mechanics. They'll figure it out. Just bust out a volt meter, the schematic, and start probing the 12V starting at the battery. Some connector came loose somewhere.

I would make sure I kept all documents of what they did to fix it .If it is doing this with 2 miles on the clock there could be more problems in the future and could end up a lemon . Hope not but you never know !!

Yes, I agree. And I am crossing my fingers that there are no other problems. I have Lemon Lawed a Camaro before. I was very patient the last time. They had my car more than I did. This time I would not be so tolerant.

Probably way too obvious but if M7 the brake and clutch must both be depressed to start the car. Used to be only clutch was required. I recall this took effect on the 18 model year but am not sure about this.

With an m7, only need to depress the clutch to start, need to press the brake pedal to release the park brake though...

Nope. The Universe is trying to tell you something. If you have not “taken delivery” I’d back out and move on.

I have not seen anyone mention about needing a battery, or at least charging the battery. Also there is a 350 amp fuse mounted on the battery positive cable, they could have blown that, they need to check simple stuff first.

My immediate thought was battery if the car has been sitting long. I make sure I float charge if sitting more than a few weeks.

Well unless I do it by habit, I do not remember pressing the brake pedal other that when I want to disengage park on my 2017 GS 7 speed; will try it tonight

In my 2016 I only had to depress the clutch pedal to start it. In my 2019 I have to depress both the clutch pedal and the brake pedal to start it. It caught me out while taking delivery at the museum.

"Backing out" might get to be a little tricky in this case. The car is paid for and is a courtesy delivery so not even at selling dealer.

Correct. I did not order off the lot of dealer on east coast...and had it delivered at the nearest dealer near me that would accept courtesy delivery. And yes, the car is already paid for. Otherwise they wouldn't be prepping the car for pickup.

As I said, the first thing they did was check the battery and all the simple normal things. All were fine. ALL the Diagnostics they ran, nothing pointed towards the problem. They have no clue so far.
