Year 1 C7 owners: any MAJOR issues with your vehicles?
Thanks for the feedback ::: I'm ordering a 2020 C8- owned a '15 C7 & now a '17 GS. Never had a single issue. Just want to cut through all the negativity a little about year 1 models. Thanks!

I owned 3 first year corvettes...1998/2005/2014
My 2014 was FLAWLESS. My 2005 was OK (3 DBS episodes among other things). My 1998 was the WORST car I've ever owned

My “1st year” 2014 has been great (M7).
I *am* concerned about the brand new DCT, as GM has had issues in the past with brand new automatics having problems. The A8, the 700, the weird 4+3 (manual but with “new” auto-style overdrive) as notable examples.
I have no real concerns about the rest of the C8 being 1st year, just the brand new, we’ve-never-done-this-before tranny. I hope it’s bullet-proof, because, as the ONLY transmission choice, if it stumbles it could be quite the catastrophe for the all new C8.

Hopefully the DCT they're using was designed to handle the more powerful cars on the horizon and they are overkill for the base model.

I had a '14 that was my daily driver. I drove it four years and about 42,000 miles. I did not have a single problem with it. The fit and finish on it was very good also.

Bought a very early 2005 in August 2004. The car was an electrical nightmare that GM couldn't fix and eventually bought back. Went to an 06 Z06 after that. It was flawless. C7's didn't have the "teething" problems the C6 did. This C8 is a whole new platform, but I have faith that they will get it right. Lots of miles put on these cars before the public ever sees them. Time will tell, but I am confident.

I dont think you could compare "prior corvettes".. you really would need some vehicle they built that was new from scratch. Besides the engine, the rest of this car is unchartered territory for this company. They clapped "corvette" on it but wheres there other mid engine cars to relate to this one? That's the issue (for me).
I wouldn't touch this car for 3yrs (I wish the rest of you luck). My bigger fear is not that I would end up with a pos in the shop half its life, more like 2020 was this and by 2022 it's THIS! 10spd DCT LT3 engine and all the other mce they pull just like they did for c6 and c7.. I can put "gotta have it" on the back burner to save the aggravation. That and I have a Z06 which makes it much more palatable. If I didn't have the car I have now? I would still wait until at least 2022 for the mce and some reliability reports (from REAL owners on here).

First year C7 - one issue, ribbon cable leading to the NAV unit failed. Replaced under warranty.
First year C6 - one issue, clutch packs in the rear end made a clunking sound when driving slow and making hard turns. Replaced under warranty.

OP, I think your comparison is flawed. The C7 followed 17 years of manufacturing a similar platform and similar engines and transmissions. Yes the computer modules were changed but we don't know how long GM had to test these in C6 test bed cars before putting them into the C7.
If you look at your question another way, "What happened when GM introduced a different transmission with major changes?". The A8 wasn't exactly a complete success. It appears that in 2019 they finally figured out how to increase the reliability with the new, correct transmission fluid.
With the C8, GM is introducing a new platform with a new transmission and entirely new electronic system and a tried and reliable engine. One out of four doesn't give me a warm feeling.
I hope the C8 is a smashing success and one of the most reliable Corvettes in history. However, I'll take a back seat and watch.
Oh yes, to answer your question, my 2014 has had only one very minor fix under warranty. The homelink module failed and was replaced.

My car was the 511th C7 built. Only issue I ever had was with the cooled seats. Now have 42,500 miles and just put a deposit down on the C8.

I bought my 2014 used in 2017. The car was very solid mechanically (40K miles when I bought it, 57K sold it). Needed a water pump and an O2 sensor and a cooling fan had a freak issue. The paint had a lot of orange peel as was an issue in the early cars (the new paint shop has fixed that), it had the common chipping at the bumper corners inboard of the head lights, and overall panel fit and gaps were pretty poor (I adjusted the quarters, doors, and fenders). The new C8s look vastly improved in these regards other than the front fascia inboard of the headlights sticking up... hopefully they fix that stupid bracket. The doors gaps and fender gaps are very good thanks to how they ditched the indentation along the bottom of the door and the fact that the rocker goes the full length of the area between the wheels and the fender is no longer going down under the car and making up the front of the rocker... these changes allow for much more precise door and fender gaps.

My 14 A6 Stingray which was a totally new platform from the C6 ... had zero issues for the the 22000 miles I drove it. Just changed the oil
