Do you like the VX1? I do.

Well, it's nice, but it has that parallel strut look like my C5 Z06 wheels. I'm looking for the wheels that look closer to the ones I have now. (And don't yet have a crack, by the way.)

I started a thread a while back trying to find exact matches of the GS wheel, only forged.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...06-design.html

I was never able to find any forged wheels that matched the GS wheels closely enough to pull the trigger. The vibe I got was that you're not going to find a forged set that exactly match the GS because the wheel makers can't copy a design. I could be wrong, but you'd think a forged wheel maker would have already copied the GS/Z06 designs perfectly already if they could have.. They'd make a fortune.

How do after market wheels hold up in terms of paint? My GS wheels are black with 6k miles and look like someone took a sandblasted to them. Pitted like crazy, small chips, absolute **** looking. I have done 3 track days and drive to car shows or go on occasional mountain drives. You would think I dragged them behind the car down a rocky road.

I didn't have the budget for forged wheels and there is a wheel theft issue where I live so I went with PK Auto Design https://pkautodesign.com/ and got NON-run-flat tires and rotary forged wheels. I am hopeful these two changes will eliminate or drastically cut wheel cracking. Even if I lose one wheel, that's fine because it would still be less than OEM or the full package of forged wheels. Whether or not this works isn't known but I did notice my new wheels are very bouncy compared to the RFT's which are basically rock solid. I suspect, like some forum members, that simply replacing the RFTs is probably enough to eliminate the issue. I didn't like the OEM tires anyway which are "Streetable Track tires" if you look at Tire Rack's description. I never had a cracked rim in 5000 miles on OEM but I know of people that have had 6 or 7 cracked ones including a guy who had all 4 crack when he went from unpaved to paved road.

I have been looking at forgeline but they don't do chrome. ( old school guy ) Gerry quoted me a price of 8800 for a set of high polished wheels but would need to see them side by side with a chrome wheel. I have had 4 bent so far and its only a matter of time before I need to do something. All my wheels were bent on two occasions on the interstate. Go figure

Default Forgelines

5 BENT wheels on my 2019 GS...went with Forgelines VX1R ..Dealer told me they would not mount non GM wheels due to liability concerns...had to find another local tire store with a "touchless" Hunter tire changing machine...Dunn Tire a loval outlet quoted me $33.00 each wheel, mounted balance and mounted.

Could you post a pic of how the cont. tires look on your GS. I will going to this tire when the time comes. Wish there was an all season non run flat but nothing out there as far as I know. Thanks

I have yet to read a post mentioning a cracked wheel issue when using a non-runflat tire. I also, recommend your next set of tires be non-runflats if you are a “cheap baster” like me.
