Default Tough decision on my C7

So when I purchased my 2019 8 months ago my intentions were to drive it daily and enjoy it. Well 2 months after the purchase my office relocated right down the street from my home. My commute went from 45 minutes to two minutes. This morning I decided to walk to the office. So here we are 8 months later with just 1.5K miles on the car. Financially it doesn’t make much sense to pay for a $65K car that gets used maybe 1 day a week. So I’m sitting here thinking if I should let her go and let someone else enjoy it. I’m just afraid that I’ll regret my decision later on. It's definitely going to be a tough call.

Driving it to work was a waste anyways. When you get time on the weekends or in the evening get in the car and go for a ride. It is amazing what a joy ride in a Corvette does to the spirits after a particularly hard day or week at work. This is why you own the car:

Lol, That's basically what I'm doing now. Wash and wax and let it sit there.

If you can afford it, keep it. You can still use it after work or weekends. I used to have a car like that. 2 years and only 8k and another one 3 years and 12k. I just ordered a Stingray and it will be a weekend car like that too. I even have a motorcycle that only get ridden 2000 miles a year. But when i do ride, drive them, i am enjoying every minute of it.

Keep it, its not a Camry. I don't think you bought the Corvette because its the best value commuter out there. Being able to commute in it was just a bonus. Not driving it everyday to work isn't a bad thing. You can always use the time you save on commute just driving around now for fun.

I don't drive to work yet I put 7k miles a year on mine. You need to actually want to leave the house and do things in the Corvette. Going grocery shopping? Will the amount of groceries your buying fit in the Corvette? Take the Corvette. Going to see friends/family? Does whatever your bringing fit in the Corvette? Take the Corvette. Going to see a movie? Take the Corvette.

It’s not really a burden financially. The only time I really connected with the car was during my commute to the office. Heck the best part of my day was my commute. As a CPA I work sometimes 12 hour days and looked forward to my commute home. Finally weekends here and I have 20 things on my “to do” list and driving is not one of them. I’m lucky if I can squeeze in an hour of drive time.

Is it just the way the photo reproduced, or is she rubbing his bald spot?

My 2016 has 1,050 miles on it and has not been driven in 14 months. I don't see an issue here, just sayin......

Excuse my french, but F**k the next guy. You're not offering up a puppy to a good home. Most would rejoice in that office relocation. Sounds to me like you are mourning the loss of road time, more than you are having trouble justifying the cost. Justifying the cost has already been done...all you're going to do is lose more money if you sell it. With your new found time, plan some evening and weekend trips to enjoy!

Tough call... doesn't make much sense to have that much money just sitting in the garage depreciating. If you're not going to drive it on the weekends or be part of a local club to do events and shows and cruises. If you can walk to work that's pretty special... you're paying insurance and property taxes (well.. maybe not where you live) etc.

Sell it. Take cash and invest in a rental. Make bookuu bank over 10 years then buy super duper hypercar supercar and enjoy sneering at the rest of us "lowly" corvette owners.

Trust me, you will rue the day you sell it because you thought it was wasting away in the garage (when it reality is wasnt).

Interesting post. I don't drive my C7 in the winter due to the weather. I did not buy this car for transportation. In fact, I enoy just owning it. It sounds like you really don't have a passion for ownership and enjoying your Corvette. I suggest that you get rid of it. IMHO

Is it highly customized to where you couldn't easily replace it later? Do you have any interest in the C8? I wouldn't be making a car payment just to watch my Corvette take up garage space. You might want to sell it before the C8 comes out.

I first saw the add in a magazine in 1962 and have a reproduction that I had hanging in my office before I retired but I have never been able to determine the answer to that question.

Road trip to Tail of the Dragon will make you feel better. As a CPA, you're probably over analyzing the situation (I don't mean that in a negative way).
