I was just in WY and long stretches of I-80 are 80 MPH. Most are 75.
That being said, everyone was flying 90-95 anyways. Funny to see a soccer mom in a mini van going that fast. :-)

The reason there's a black dot where Washington DC is, because it's hard to reach any speed limit in bumper to bumper traffic

These limits need to be re evaluated. Far too slow for todays cars.

Doubtful that will ever happen, Texas has the highest speeds in the country and also one of the highest deaths with car accidents. I have lived in NY, FL and TX, people just want to go fast out here. I mean I am not complaining but they can definitely use some time on the road course to be better drivers.

The speed limit on BC highways is now 120 km/h (74mph) and there are a few other provinces with 110 km/h limits. Ontario is stuck with the stupid 100 km/h limit but everyone goes 120 and cops won't even pull you over at that speed.

BC now has variable speed limits on a couple of the interior highways based on road conditions, 120 is the norm (most cruise at 130 -140) but in bad weather they can drop it down to 80.

Perhaps so, but the highways I drive around here are so terrible that the car would disintegrate from all the pot hole and disappear if you hit one of the tank traps!
Only roads around here that are decent shape are the toll roads - which are now the most expensive in the country and in decent shape only because no one can afford to use them!
Oh, and you best watch out of the construction truck that dumps their step ladder right in the middle of multiple lanes!

I went on the 85mph portion outside Austin just last week, coming home from vaca. Nice road. BTW, my 1-ton 12 passenger family van has no problem holding 93mph cruise

I had a Skip Barber instructor take a loaded with students 15 passenger ford van around a road course track to "show us the line"...boy could that guy could drive. But I wouldn't want to be in anything that size at speed that blew a tire.
