Call Mike Furman at Criswell Chevrolet. He's the top Corvette salesman in the USA. He knows as much as any sales person does and I know they are taking orders for the C8 (and have been for some time). To the best of my knowledge, the small deposit you put down is fully refundable if you don't like the C8. I've dealt with him and he's a straight shooter, you'll like dealing with him. You can find his phone number in the C7 Dealer for sale section or on his thread that he starts almost every week on the C7 forum. He might have a thread over on the C8, not sure.

So what would you do to 'pre-order' a car that doesn't exist? Just throw a wad of cash at a dealer and ask nicely for him to call you when 'some unknown thing' becomes real, and you're good with whatever price/options/color/engine it comes with?
I guess some people have that kind of money to throw around... good for them.

All new save a few nuts and bolts, the growing pains associated with a C8 will keep our C7 in the garage for the forseeable future. Not to mention the crazy prices, long wait times, etc. Even C6s were bringing 5K over MSRP into the 2006 model run. I bite the bullet and pay MSRP, but I'm never going to pay the early adopter premium of the C8. Like throwing the money away. Patience is a virtue my Mom used to say.
