##$@% dealer service
Ok my second free oil change - 2 hours at least this time they confrimed they had the dexos in stock last time they said they did but didnt and had to send out 3.5 hrs for that one.. I was also in to get my rim replaced (rear crack on GS) they waited until the oil change was done and told that it would be an hour more as they don't have the right mounting machine and had to send it out. Now im there 3 1/2 hrs and still no car . They call their tire shop and they are having trouble mounting as they don't want to scratch the rim. Duh 5 hrs for an oil and rim change
Im now thinking that my tire/wheel insurance policy is going to be a burden as Im sure ill need additional rims (NYC winters leave many craters) each time ill need to deal with this. Also rim was backordered took a week to get. That would have been a bigger issue if i wasnt able to drive with it cracked

Do your own oil changes...
1) Its done right - no dealership mistakes
2) It takes about 1 hour (jacking the car safely)
3) You learn more about your car
4) Saves you money

When I took mine in for its first oil change the dealer said it would take 30-45 minutes. 4 hours later and a few complaints from me they finally finished. For the second oil change I was in and out in under an hour.

Same crap here. 1st oil change they sent me home, no "Vette" qualified tech was available, DUH, I told them it was a Vette when I made the Appt. 2nd Oil change took 2 1/2 hours WTF, I'm going in for my 3rd and final "Free" change next week. Can't wait. At least it's a great waiting room, just did my VW Jetta oil yesterday, what a sh**t hole and no vaccum, no wash, they disconnected my radar, never reconnected. If I got a ticket they would be paying. Yanked out my Allstate "safe driver" monitor and left on the floor, thanks guys, see ya never again for $ 90. oil change. Nemer VW Albany, NY

If you're not satisfied with your current dealer and their service department, find another one (perhaps another one in a nearby city). No sense playing stupid games with a dealership that does not value your time as much as they do theirs. Five hours for an oil change and rim swap is pathetic and I'd be upset too waiting that long after an appointment was made. Oh, and unless you are worried about pizzing off the dealership, let them know your feelings by discussing with the service manager and if needed dealership owner.
Not all dealerships operate that way. I travel 20 miles to a neighboring city to use the dealership there because they treat me right, do work right the first time, charge a fair price and don't make me wait any longer than necessary to have my car worked on.

There was a time when my dealer had a fast and speedy lane for doing oil changes. Now your car is thrown in with all car service. Makes you wonder.

45 minutes all perfect Van Bortel Corvette 2 techs certified and are the only ones that work on Corvettes. I never hesitate to take my Corvette in for service of any kind.

And I thought that I was the only one to go through this. Mine also came from Kerbeck but 800 miles is a bit far to go for an oil change. The local big dealer refused to talk to us when we were buying the car because we wouldn’t tell him how we were going to pay for the car before we made the deal (BTW we had cash). After delivery, I went to a small dealer in the next town for an oil change as I didn’t want anything more to do with the local dealer. Sat there almost an hour before they told me that I’d have to come back as they don’t have the Mobil One in stock. Went back on appointment and when they were finished, I asked for a spare bottle of the oil to buy, just in case. But they only bought enough to change my oil and had no more! So I took an empty bottle from them and I discovered they used European Mobil One that they got at Wal Mart instead of the ESP. Then they said it might take a couple weeks before they can get the correct oil from GM. I called GM customer service, which was absolutely no help at all. They just danced around the subject with no advice or solution. I called a dealer in the next city and they had the ESP in stock so the next day I went there for another oil change to get it right. Frustrated, but water under the bridge now. I just have to drive further for my service.

For $60 we have a drive threw oil changer....4 wheels on the ground....I see what comes out and goes in. Dealers that don’t want you seeing the service facility I have a difficult time trusting. My experience with warranty work has turned me off. The local corvette club has pointed me toward a “good” dealer in another town which will get my business, however, routine matinance will be taken care of.

We have people driving over 50 miles one way to get oil changes and other maintenance at Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista CA. Finding a dealer you can trust is valuable and they make appointments for oil changes and get you in and out quickly. Great service and nice people.

I would rather it take some time as long as it was done right. If i was in and out in under a half hour i would question if they changed it right. Especially since my GS has two oil plugs that take some time to drain and it takes time to get the car up to temp and then let it cool the 5-10 minutes for the dry sump to check the dipstick. That said the several hours that others have mentioned would be pushing my patience limit too

My 1st 500 mile oil change on my GS went smooth about 1 hour but the second oil change the service department added to much oil. I noticed it while driving home when I could smell the oil thru the vents. When I got home I waited 10 min and checked the oil and it was very high. I extracted 1 quart to get the oil level down to the full line. When I received my customer survey expressed my displeasure that the service department obviously did not follow the procedure for performing a oil change on a wet sump corvette. They are a large Chevy dealer with a large service department. I just hope the tech did pull both oil plugs when performing the oil change. I have one more free oil change so when I bring it in I will again explain what happened last time I had the oil change and ask them to follow the GM procedure. I will be doing my onw oil changes after that.
