Default Thinking about coming back

After a few years hiatus, I'm looking at trading in my '11 911 Turbo S for a 2016 Z06 3lt with the Z07 package.

I sold my highly modified '06 Z51several years back (never should have done that) for a '13 Viper/SRT GTS. That car was pretty awesome overall. A few things that I didn't care for and ultimately why I sold it were because the seats were uncomfortable for anything longer than a few hour trip, the exhaust note/drone drove me crazy on the interstate, and replacement parts were already starting to show the signs of being hard to acquire.

So, I've only had the Turbo S for four months and I already find myself getting bored with the car. To solve this I've added exhaust, tune, plenum but it's just not itching that scratch. I miss rowing through the gears and the camaraderie that comes with owning a Vette.

Now I just have to talk my better half into letting me get it...This should be fun.

I'm thinking you may have been more satisfied with a later model 911S? 2011 Porsche tech cannot be as advanced as 2016+.

The C7 various iterations are of course a no-brainer. There's no question there - we who own 'em love 'em.

Perhaps I would have been more satisfied with a 991 but my wallet, however would not.

Beware of posting any comments whatsoever on this forum implying that spending lots of money on toys might even require a simple conversation with one's wife lest you be ridiculed by all the (wannabe) Alpha males here (LMAO) that require not even the slightest mention of spending the money until the car shows up in the driveway.

Good luck - hope you are successful in convincing your wife. Not an easy job - I speak from experience.

money issues? Why do people think that others have money issues because they set a limit to how much they will spend on things. When I bought my base Stingray I had people tell me couldn't you afford a Z06 or at least a Grand Sport? My response was if I wanted a Z06'or a GS I would have bought one. Another thing I couldn't justify was ordering my Vette with over priced option pkgs like the 2 and 3 Lt. Unlike you I felt they were a huge waste of money. The only thing I missed was the home link and I have that on order. For 200 bucks now will have all the options I want. Believe it or not I own a base Stingray with the base option pkg and I don't have money issues.

YELW 06 Z51... Come on back and WELCOME.

I've had many people come up to me and tell me what a gorgeous car I have. I always thank them and tell them "Go buy yourself one. They're still making them."

I always hate it when people bring up money. I mean, people who have no idea what someone else has, can get, or is willing to spend, want to tell that person what problem is holding them up. Geezus. What business is it to anyone but the buyer. Don't tell me I can't afford a Z06 or GS just because I bought a base Stingray. I may have much bigger plans in my future.

I say, give your wife the 911, and trade her car in on the C7. Heck, its good in bad weather and has four, sort of, seats. Win/Win.

If you remember one of my first threads on here I took a lot of **** just because I posted that Mrs Flex was shocked at how much I was prepared to spend on my C7. In the end I got a sweet deal and spent about 6-7k less than I would have on a new GS that I had in mind and got a lightly used Z06 instead. I texted her from the Sales Managers office when I was doing the deal and told her I bought the car. She replied saying she was glad I am happy and also that she transferred $3k to my account to add to my downpayment as an early Christmas present. So all the ******* that posted crap in my thread were just a tad wrong about the entire situation.

I'm a bazillionaire and I still discuss a 100K purchase with my wife even if she'd never even notice that amount of money missing from the bank. It's called respect. There are a lot of broke punks on this board who will tell you that it's bad form to treat your wife with courtesy and respect, but that doesn't make it ok or normal.

Next time someone tells you how big their ***** are because they don't treat the women in their lives as equal partners, remember their ***** got that way from lack of sex. And that's why they're always so cranky about life, too.
