My cost per time owned is high. 82,300 miles in a little less than 3 years. On my 4th set of tires. Pretty expensive. It seems like I'm in for the oil change and other maintenance every 3 months or so. That gets expensive. Either way it's just a fun toy. Some people play with their toys a lot and some don't. I understand each side of the equation. When I was a kid I would wear a bicycle out in about a year! My brother had the same bike for years. He would use mine and save his! Everyone enjoys things differently. The main thing is whatever makes you happy.
Oh,...and my gas bill with Chevron is about $425 per month. Ouch! I have it on autopay so I don't have to look at and be reminded.

I picked up my 2018 on December 20th, 2017 and I don't drive it daily, I only drive when the roads are dry. But yet I managed to put almost 8900 miles on it so far. The car still looks showroom new, even under the hood and underneath the car too. Not a scratch on it, or even a stone chip. I had 80,000 miles on my C6 and 133,000 miles on my C5, both of them didn't quite look showroom new up close (especially the C5, which got driven in 7 Toronto winters) but from a short distance they looked perfect. That's good enough for me, I'm not entering these things in car shows. I get the fact that people want to keep them pristine, but I don't get the point of owning such a great car and only taking it out for a short drive once a month. It's a car, not a piece of art you hang on the wall. These low mileage threads make me feel sorry for the owners, especially the 2014 owner with only 347 miles on it. How can you own one of the best cars ever made and let it sit parked all the time?

Ownership just means different things to different people. I totally get it. Driving a toy like this is only one aspect of the entire experience. Some just enjoy all of the other aspects more. Nothing wrong with that. Some days I just enjoy heading out to the garage and seeing the car sitting there. Now that it's winter I won't drive it on the roads here anyway. If driving was the only thing I loved about the car it wouldn't make much sense to even have it in the garage for all the bad months of weather we have.

No different than some of my other toys either. I love to snowmobile but over the last decade we have only had a few weeks sometimes even just days to ride them. I won't be getting rid of them anytime soon though.

Excellent! Looks like there are going to be a lot of these things to push off a cliff some day, or for some teenager to run the f**k out of.

1700 in one year since buying new November 2017. C7 now put away for the winter.
Yes, I’m keeping it really nice for the next owner.

If your making money on a Vette, one must assume you purchased them USED...cause NO ONE is buying a new Vette and selling it (even a day later) for more money...

Please no "drive it and enjoy it-its only a car" comments. This is how I enjoy my car. (and yes I take my meds regularly)

Garage queens speak up!
I've got only a couple thousand miles in a year and four months. What's up? Life happened, unexpected medical problems for my wife a year ago that meant the car sat in the garage while we were off dealing with them. That plus not driving to work or in winter keeps miles down, not a surprise with a car that is an additional vehicle for many of us. If I lived in a warm weather state and could daily drive miles would be more like 20,000.

I obviously haven't made $ on modern Corvettes but C2s and C3s over the years. I was actually scouring the US for a concours condition 1970 LT1 and on a trip to examine one for purchase I rode past a Chevy dealer
who had C7s parked all across the dealership. I went in drove a Z06, GS and Stingray and immediately my hunt changed to a new C7. Six weeks later I finally found my Grandsport Vert in Indianapolis which is my one and only C7 to date.
Of course will not make $ on this one in my lifetime.

I do the same with C4's...find them, fix them up to close to mint and sell them...everyone wins. Would love to get my hands on a C1 or C2 for restoration and resell...but I heard its a very expensive market to jump into and the sales cycle is slow and long...but, Im no expert...very cool indeed Kevin.

It has much to do with knowing the cars and having contacts - "bought right = half sold".

They may be in worse condition than you think when they are not driven.

This could be one of you guys some day...just recently listed here locally. I have lived in this small town here for over 30 years and never seen this car. Now I know why.

Interesting; unless the photo is playing tricks that's not the original color/paint thus negatively impacting car's value.
Looks a bit like Panama Yellow. The only yellow offered for the C1 and only in 1958. Also the 327 wasn't offered until 1962.
Both 1958 and 1960 would have come with a 283. So not original engine, again negatively impacting car's value.

2014 with 17,000 miles, wife has a 1996 convertible with 22,000. Summer tires on the C7 limit the months used, and the C4 will barely hold a cooler, so no long trips with it. Both of us are still working, and have other toys, so they are garage queens, but really get enjoyed when they get out! We did manage to put 70,000 on the C5 before we sold it!!!

Might want to check for the paint code and the engine ID, as it may have the original 283 and seller just doesn't know it. Both color and original engine are HUGE in determining this C1's value.

I bought my 16Z in August of 2016 with 50 miles on it. It sat in the garage for a year while I was working overseas for a year. I got back in November 2017 and put a few miles on it before winter. Spring time finally arrives and I get diagnosed with pseudoarthrosis (failed back surgery) and require a revision surgery. All of a sudden its winter time again. Finally hand washed it for the first time the other week with only 5500 miles on it now and now it's in the garage. I thought about getting a set of AS3+ just so I could drive it some more this winter.

also check the frame/birdcage for rust and get a copy of the corvette black book for all codes pertaining to the car. Also ask for any and all documentation on the car, anything that can document the originality of the car, ie sales invoice, protecto plate, not sure if c1s had tank stickers, repair records are good for verifying mileage.
