How to set default driving mode?
When I use the Track mode, when I turn the engine off, it always changes back to Tour mode.
Drives me nuts.
I’ve gone through all the settings I can think of, but nothing works. It always defaults back to Tour. What am I missing?

I always use the Sport or the Track modes but no matter what I use, when I turn the engine off, it always changes back to Tour mode.

What year / model is your car? Do you have MRC? Auto or Manual transmission? etc

All modes default to Tour except Sport (which stays that and only that) upon restart.
All modes (including Sport) appear to revert to Tour upon shutdown. Sport doesn't really revert, but it does look that way at that point.

Mine stays where I set it except this one weird circumstance. If I am autocrossing or at a track day driving it in track mode (and driving it hard), when I turn it off it will often re-start in tour mode (I never put it in tour mode).

Exactly. That has been my experience and is also stated in the manual. Mine is a 2016.

If you have it is Sport mode, when you shut off the ignition the DIC will display T (for Tour) mode. However, it has not really changed modes. When you restart, it will be in (and display) Sport mode.

Yeah but that's not the same of a couple of people who say it stays where they set it. Could one of those people verify that if parked in Track Mode then when started it's still in Track Mode? Because that's not my experience at all. All modes default back to Tour 'cept Sport.

Tour stays in Tour
Sport stays in Sport
Track stays in..... Tour upon restart
Damn new owners....oh wait, that's me!

I’m just glad that the default to Tour (except when using Sport mode) is normal. I guess GM intended to make it so it has to be a conscious choice to drive in Track mode every time you start it up.
Wonder why.

All you need to do is check first or say "I think" before stating your "fact".
Initially I thought that all modes returned to Tour, including Sport. I've had two updates to the system so far - one for AA firmware update and the 0-60 timer fix (done together) and recently the performance re calibration patch. I don't think they changed the "Sport stays in Sport" so I assume I just didn't test properly before.
