Default C7 Gauge Cluster Configuration

I take delivery of my 2019 Z51 2LT in 3-4 weeks. First item to change will be to override the 'Mode Selector' settings and set the default 'Engine Sound Management' and 'Steering' settings to 'Sport'. It's a Corvette and its going to sound and steer like one regardless of the mode selection.
One item not identified in my downloaded copy of the Owners Manual is a way to override the Mode Selector so to set the default view of the Instrument Cluster to Sport or Track. Anyone have a trick or solution to this

You can't set the default to Track Mode. If you are in Tour or Sport it will default to either of those depending on what the display was when shutdown.

This display below is one of the Track options, which I have selected all the time regardless of mode. It's new starting w/ 2018 models, and I love having all the vital stats up at all times.

Annoyed that the older model doesn't have that display. I don't like track mode on my 15 as I don't get a specific number for the aux gauges. Just a bar graph.

You do this with the steering wheel controls with the main instrument cluster. Just go to options and scroll to the display themes selection and pick track or sport....done!

So if I drive my C7 in 'Tour' mode, change the instrument cluster to 'Sport', the next time I start my car the gauge cluster will display in 'Sport' mode?

Perfect, thanks to everyone for your help and input, can't wait for the end of August so that I can put these suggestions to work.

Lookup "Link To Drive" mode in the manual.
This is what you want.
I have mine set to Track display on the dash, Sport steering & MRC, and Track for the exhaust.
It starts this way every time I stop/start the car.

Only link the displays to drive mode if you want the displays to change with drive mode. Otherwise don't link to drive mode and set them the way you want them to be (do this on the steering wheel). Since I have a 15 I set my display to Tour Mode since that is the only way I can get an instrument readings for everything as it is the only display on the Z06 that has coolant temperature. Luckily, Tour Mode shows the readings in digital format so they are easy to read at a glance. When I am on track the display is in Tour Mode. The 18 Track display is improved since it looks like it has coolant temp and a digital format in addition to the almost useless analog format.

I have Engine Sound Management set in Track Mode and with the M7 I have an open exhaust all the time except when I select Eco mode and the exhaust closes when the engine switches to V4 and re-opens when it switches to V8. In Tour Mode the Exhaust is open all the time.

Thanks! Yes, I described it backwards... I should have said un-"link to drive mode" lol!

I like that A LOT. Tried unsuccessfully to find it on my '17 GS the other day, now know why I couldn't.

^^^ Seems like it ought to be a fairly simple software update if GM wanted to make it available. Free but $350 to download? ;-(

Wondering if my 2016 display could be updated to have this. I’d pay to get an upgrade like that.

Just play with the settings. I go back and forth between tour and sport for the gauges. I've been in tour for a the last couple of weeks. I seem to like the voltage and tire status showing up, vs just the pocket water temp and oil in Sport mode. Track seem to be too much KITT...

Anyway, MRC unlinked
Steering in track, Exhaust in track seems right for me

Your mileage may vary.

That's what I pretty much done with mine. The Tour interface is "okay", but they really got it right with Sport...so I pretty much changed the interface and exhaust mode to Sport whenever I'm in Touring Drive Mode. I also noticed that you're getting a 2LT, which does have the Heads Up Display unit. You can also configure the HUD to your liking if needed.

Pretty impressed with that alternate Track Mode display Foosh showed in his attachment, but alas, I have a late 2017 model.

I did have a IP infotainment update on my 16 and I can set it in any mode I want. Like Bill I like the info you get in Tour so have that set as the default.

Can't help with the gauge question but did the same with my 2017 Grand Sport, Sport for steering and in my case Track for NPP-those are available options.

But I was also used to Max Throttle Response in my 2014 Z51 without MRC so drove with max response as it had no affect on ride! No such option with setting Throttle response! However I found with the new software upgrade (comes standard in 2019s) I can drive in Sport. Could not before as it was a stiffer ride than my none MRC 2014 Z51. You might find that throttle response satisfactory if you can drive in Sport mode. If not you can do as I did purchase a Vitesse Throttle Controller!

However to have Sport settings for nannie and eLSD control requires driving in Sport Mode.

Might consider getting ceramic brake pads before you get the car so you can change and not have to clean the rotors! I was cleaning my wheels every 100 to 200 miles with my 2014 Z51 with the OEM pads. Switched to Carbotech 1521s that also have on my Grand Sport. ~85% less dust and only clean the wheels when I wash the car!
